Well, I tried this recipe. Mandy you are a treasure. This is the best spare rib dish I have ever made. The meat was tender and smooth. It was a long recipe but well worth it. I made 1 kg of ribs and doubled everything but steamed only half. So will freeze the rest for another treat later. Thank you once again for sharing your tips and explanations. You are brilliant!

(at 60 my cholesterol finally went over 200) That's a good thing. People (particularly women) live longer if their cholesterol rises with age. Around 240 total cholesterol is the sweet spot. The research is out there. Use something other than Google as your search engine.

@@danL1011 I think you have a bad spot...high numbers build up plaque in the circulatory system which can cause heart issues and strokes.. Like what happened to my step brother's wife.. Hers was around 220 and that's what end up causing her to have a stroke and dying.. Her carotid arteries were blocked.. Keep believing the higher numbers the better.. And by the way she was 66..

3:00 In the past, in China, in fresh meat market, the pork was placed on the butcher table under hot air temperature for several hours and flies swarming before you can buy it. So such cleaning process is necessary. But now, it's not needed.

Hello, I envy these ribs you find. The only ribs I ever see are the ones people put in their smokers or on their bbq's. They are large and there is a piece that connects them all together that attaches perpendicular the the ribs. I am not sure what they are called. I have seen a method that rolls the ribs in rice before steaming. Can you do that with these ribs or is that too different? I always marvel at how the same foods, prepared in a slightly different way, creates a most delicious dish that has it's own flavour and texture etc. This is one of the reasons that I love Chinese cuisine in general.

Looks very nice. My problem is that I don't eat pork, but I might do it with veal ribs. Another question about the cornstarch that you put around. If you would fry it, it would become like a crust that keeps the juice of the meat inside. This is tasty. I do that to prepare Manchurian chicken . But if you steam it, I am afraid that it would become like an unpleasant paste. Can you give details about it.
@SoupedUpRecipes

If you steam it, the cornstarch texture becomes gelatinous and a bit velvety. It is actully pleasant.
