It should be a simple twist and pull out of the bolt. It should just come out easily with a little bit of resistance on the detent on the charging handle when pulling it out with a twist motion. I have seen a few videos of peoples Canuck Operators that have a really tight one and they use a rag to not scratch it and then a set of any pliers and they reef on it with the same twisting and pulling motion

No dumb questions when learning! You unscrew the magazine cap. Lefty loosey hahah. Then the magazine spring is retained in the magazine tube but you can stick a long flat head screw driver down there and unscrew a cap piece that holds the spring in the tube so it doesn't go flying like my Remington 870 once you take the magazine cap off. Hope that helps!

What was the reason for changing the gas system? Just easier disassembly or is there a issue with the canuck parts?
@DailyDoseOfCanada
3 жыл бұрын
No issue with the stock Canuck gas system at all. Like you said just wanted the easier disassembly and now I got a spare set if something happens. Also we will see with time but I think the tac 12 gas system might be a bit more reliable only because the gas port is wider for more gas to drive those pistons during adverse conditions only downside would be slightly more felt recoil from the extra gas

I believe I purchased an updated version of the canuck elite operator from SFRC. The adjustable stock is a better design than this one. Also was sent a fixed stock but the didn't include the recoil tube bolt. No idea what size or threading I need to attach it.

In my opinion the narrow gas piston part might be more effective in light loads, because its not the gas port its the one piece of the system which absorb unnecessary gas. Being narrow might be useful because more gas that is coming from the gas port is going to the opposite side to hit the bolt hardly and operate the system well even in light loads. Maybe %70 of the gas should hit the bolt side and other %30 should be absorbed by that piece. When it gets wider it absorbed more gas from the gas port that may cause jams. However narrow piston may cause more recoil as well😄

You may be right. All I can say is it made no notable difference to reliability as it ran before and after the gas plug change.

How is the length of pull from stock? Do you still have the other stick on hand?
@DailyDoseOfCanada
3 жыл бұрын
The traditional stock has a length of pull of "14 which is great for me at 6ft tall and decent long arms. The collapsible stock can go a lot shorter I can measure it later but I'm gonna guess it can collapse down to a "11 or "12 length of pull and can extend out to "14

Yes! I plan on doing a 1000 round update video of the parts I purchased in this video. I would strongly recommend a semi auto shotgun. I have a Remington 870 Marine magnum on my back while fishing and camping and I absolutely love it but it is hard to beat the recoil reduction and increase in rate of fire from a semi auto also the ARGO gas system even with reduced power loads has been super reliable for me no malfunctions so far!

Great video...so basically what you are saying is, that is I get the Sulun Tac12 instead of the Canuck Operator, all the right parts will already be there? Or did I miss something?
@DailyDoseOfCanada
3 жыл бұрын
With all my research of the two this is what I was able to figure out. The Canuck Operator has a machined bolt tail instead of the crappy shims with rivets bolt tail that the original Benelli and the Sulun have. I have seen on multiple benelli forums of peoples bolt tails that crack and rust to shit. So imo that is a major plus for the Canuck Operator as the bolt tail is a main piece and if it fails the whole firearm will not cycle. The Canuck operator also has a slightly lower and better profile picatinny rail than the sulun. The Canuck also has a larger factory bolt release than the sulun and benelli. My main issues with Canuck Operator was the gas system as addressed in the video, no qd sling mount like on the sulun, and also the bolt pin on the Canuck is cut off which is a major piss off because I need a punch to remove it so I ordered a sulun spare bolt assembly and it has the real pin that has a flat edge so I can remove it with the bolt handle (hope that last part made sense). So pretty much in short I had to do research and find the best parts and closest to an original Benelli m4 as I could get. So now I have a Frankenstein Canuck Sulun Operator haha

@@DailyDoseOfCanada Thank you for the excellent information!!. This only confirms the old saying, that the devil is always in the details. Almost everyone claims that those clones are all identical and the only thing that sets them apart is the exit QC....but you have just proved, that this is obviously not the case. What is your opinion of the S&J hardwares "Turknelli"? From what I understand, they get a base clone from one of the Turkish manufacturers and then address all the known weak spots? Would that be likely the best course of action available to us, when shopping for one of the M4 clones? I'm still in the learning stage here.

@@VLK-73 They look like a sweet build and I doubt you would be disappointed with it. The price seems fair for all the extras added and their quality control would be much better obviously. My chokes came in unusable condition. Major pieces of metal folded over into the bore from where they punched out the key slots. Customer service from O’Dell was non-existent. They told me to take the burrs off with Emory cloth but these aren’t burrs, they are large chunks of metal. I wouldn’t purchase anything from O’Dell because I just don’t trust them. Im going to return this lemon tomorrow.

That's super shitty man. My chokes had little burrs from where they punched out the key slots too but I was able to knock the burrs of with a small tool. I noticed one of the burrs on the modified choke was a little bit bigger (more metal) so I took it shooting and the lead from the shot smoothed it out hahah. Quality control is definitely lacking for these guns but best thing to do and what I did is ask the shop who is selling them to show you every Canuck Operator they have in stock and choose the best one.

They both are not that bad of guns with a little bit of upgrading but best advice would be to just get either one and get as many rnds as possible and train with it and you will still be $1000 cheaper then the benelli M4. Then if you become really proficient or really like the platform, I would buy the actual Benelli M4. I know the price is steep but buy once cry once.

You have to take a punch and punch out the firing pin retaining pin. On the Benelli m4 this can done with your finger nails or a knife or a flat screw driver as the pin has an O-ring on it so it is easy to pull out but for some reason on my Canuck Operator they cut the head of the pin and hammered it in flush. It's a piss off that they made it so hard and need a bench and punch to fully disassemble the bolt instead of staying true to the Benelli design of not needing any tools to fully disassemble. If that doesn't make sense just watch the Benelli youtubes channel video on how to fully disassemble the M4
