This video was the lynchpin that sold me the Strive:On. It has everything I wanted in a new bike and the video was so well detailed that I had to buy it straight away. I've only taken it out once so far but I was immediately comfortable and confident despite needing to finish setting up my suspension! I am already tackling sections I hesitated on before and I had great fun climbing uphill, tackling roots I never would have thought of tackling before. I cant wait to get out on it again. Thank you Rob for your honest and detailed opinion.

I'm about to buy an emtb and thought about Marin Alpine E2...until this came up! Now, should I spend 1k (25% more than E2l) more for a lower spec in terms of Suspension/Brakes? The plus on the Stive are for sure the Battery [750W] and the punch the motor gives compared to EP8. Geometries are on pair. To have similar spec has the E2, I should have to spend over 2k (around 50% more than the E2). I love both bikes aesthetical speaking... but it's a hard choise - any help much appreciated!

I don't think this has lower component specs than the Alpine E2, I actually think it has better components. The biggest difference are if you want a coil shock in the rear or not, and that's just a matter of taste.

"2024" I always love when I hear this as companies say that allready in Januar 2023 :) I say its the damn 2023 Version because of the obvious thing that it is 2023 right now :) Watched the bike on Canyons side earlier and YES !!! I would love to check that bike out :) Interestingly the new carbon version is heavier then the evar. I checked the old Torque ON AL vs the new CF version as there is no AL anymore (just the 2021 edition) and the new bikes weight more then 1kg more in CF mode. WOW :O The new Bosh system was "OOH? COOL?" and I wondered that the new Torques continue to use Shimano :) Now i dont know if I want the Stive or the Torque. Pricewise it is the old Torque ON AL. I am also not very much convinced with CF bikes. To much people I know got cracks in Bikeparks or just on trails :/ + does it matter on an E bike? :) Awesome review btw. Can you tell about the rattle on the motor? Is there some? Cool bike ♥

👀Is this my perfect first ebike? Unfortunate the top level Torque scheme isn't available on the other tiers or Strive because I LOVE it. 1. What do you think about the race motor for casual use? Do you think for someone who can't pedal a lot due to a spine injury could benefit from the race motor? 2. Why do you think they gave the Strive a Bosche but the Torque a Shimano? I'm really keen on either of these bikes. Do you think the Bosche or the Shimano characteristics would benefit someone more like me who can't handle pedaling a long time or very hard, if you think the differences are even enough for me to consider?

Fantastic, Content! and I am in love with the idea of buying the strive on, however, have you experienced the same battery latch problems as other users do, who ride the bike on the trails? Certainly you have heard about the disconnection problems and not tight enough hold of the battery within the frame. I know the latches had been reinforced, but there is still a considerable movement of the battery within the frame which causes disconnection problems. Do you have any opinion on that?

Looks like a great bike. I've always gotten the impression (purely theoretically, as someone that doesn't have the budget to try either of them) that Shimano's focus on a natural feel and usability, compared to Bosch's focus on outright performance, makes the EP8 a great choice for the average rider, but the CX would clearly be the better choice for racing. I'm feeling fairly vindicated now, as Canyon seems to completely agree with me, using the EP8 on the Spectral/Torque:ON, while their dedicated race bike uses the CX. It's disappointing to see Headset cable routing, though (also applies to the new Torque:ON).
@niklasbjorklund4558
Жыл бұрын
I have had bikes with both motors, YES EP8 is a slight more “natural” feeling than the Bosch but just slightly. The Bosch has a nicer feeling overall. One reason why they gone with EP8 on the Torque I guess is weight savings.

Hi Rob. I'm really hoping for a comment from you on this important and expensive decision! I also welcome all other feedback. I am trying to decide between the Canyon Strive:ON and the Pole Voima ID. I've watched your review of both bikes several times, as well as every other review I can find. Your content is amazing! Which bike do you feel is better, did you end up buying the Pole Voima, and do you have any updates???? I currently have a Pivot Switchblade. I was considering getting the new Polygon Collosus n8e, and either keeping both, or selling my Pivot. If I got one of these bikes I would definitely have to sell the Pivot. I ride cross country style trails, as well as some enduro style trails. I also spend a significant amount of time at the BIKE PARK in the summer. As time is limited, my fitness is not currently great. I would really prefer a Bosch, but the new EP801 Shimano seems decent. In Pennsylvania where I live there are a lot of rocks, so the high BB of the Pole seems like a great idea, although I am not great at jumping and my skills are intermediate at best. Therefore, I'm a little concerned about trying to get an ebike in the air, but I don't really have any experience with that. I've been all 29, but I am starting to see advantages of a mullet, especially in an ebike, although it does provide relatively less grip. Do you think one of these bikes is a good choice for the park, or should I stick with a more budget friendly lower travel bike for trails, and a regular (acoustic) long-travel MTB for the bike park??

Nice review and one of the reasons I ordered this bike :) It has just arrived, and I haven't even ridden it yet. But I have a couple of concerns from my first closer look at it. The biggest one is that the motor compartment is not fully sealed. It is covered by the skid plate from below, but there are huge holes from both sides that will most likely allow dirt and water to enter the motor compartment. There are also some cables and connectors inside the compartment that seem to be exposed to that dirt. Additionally, this may make cleaning the bike more complicated. What is your experience with this? Will the motor, the electronics, and the battery survive this? Thanks!

Interesting that Canyon have gone without their shapeshifter that was the heart and signature of the strive for many years. while an EMTB may not need the climbing efficiency boost, for me the shapeshifter on my strive is used most often to make the bike more playful or get a taste of some underbiking rather than just a climb switch.
