Onset is kind of a hidden gem on the way to or from the Cape. To bad more don't take the time to check it out.

I agree. To me, it’s the Cape experience without having to cross the bridges.

In a way, I'm glad you shot this virtual tour in early spring, before the tourists descend. As a youngster, I spent a lot of vacations in Onset (growing up, my dad had a friend who owned a cottage on Onset Island, so we spent overnights there). I've been back on day trips (I live just South of Boston, a 90-minute drive) a few times as a grownup, but not since 2002. I'm old enough to remember when the Onset Village Market was known as the Onset Cash Market!

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I figured it would be easier to film in the spring when they're aren't so many people about.

This place used to not have (many) tourists even during tourist season until some dipshit radio host said they avoid traffic by going through Onset. It quickly filled up after that. It would have eventually once GPS came out, as happened with Head of the Bay road from what family tells me (I moved from Mass ~15 years ago). Tourist season was always the absolute worst.

Us old timers still call it the cash market. ... My mom has a picture of me sitting on Santa's lap, in the cash market, crying my eyes out, I was so scared! Prob 1968 -69.
