Masbate is such a magical place. This emerging tourist destination has so many off-the-beaten trail attractions to offer all types of travelers.
First, the province, located in the heart of the Philippines, can be accessed from many travel points from Luzon and the Visayas Islands.
For this adventure, organized by the Tourism Promotions Board and the Provincial Tourism Office of Masbate, we to try the newly-opened ferry connection from Culasi Port in Roxas, Capiz and Calumpang Port in Balud, Masbate.
Second, being an important link to the central nautical highway, Masbate has two magnificent Spanish era lighthouses, and we got to visit the one located in the island of Jintotolo in Balud. The Faro de Gintotolo was built in 1890s and it continue to guide mariners passing though Sibuyan Sea and Visayan Sea.
Third, there are the amazing Masbatenos, hybrid race of Bicolanos, Ilongos and Cebuanos, who welcomed us with kindness and generosity and the best tasting pastillas as soon as we stepped out of the boat from Capiz. [More of our adventures with our newly-found Masbate friends in our succeeding videos.]
