I've been trying to ease myself into doing capoeira by doing progressive exercises. Do you got any good exercises to work on for working into the ponte and back out of it. Or at least movements to open up all the back muscles. Every time I do ponte all my back and hip muscles tighten up and makes it hard to move back out of it.

@kentugaoen it depends on the situation. Sometimes for example in capoeira a mea lua de compasso can be "answered" with a cabecada from your partner. If you switch to "coluna" then he is faced with the rather unpleasant surprise of you second leg, the leg you were turning on for your compasso, following through, usually "through" his chin. The damage done usually depends on the strength with which you intend to kick up with that second leg.

@MrPredatorix it is an ABSOLUTE necessity that you keep your hips extended and your glutes contracted so you DO NOT collapse.

@grurbanopt76 . I have another problem with this move. Everytime i do it now , i end up in a really high bridge position on one arm. I am not collapsing anymore , but i simply can't stand up from it. What should i do? I am so close to learning this move.
