The beauty of capoeira isn't just in the music, but also how both the capoeiristas and the music respond to eachother. The bodies of the capoeiristas seem to move in such a way that their moves have the same flow as the music. As the tension in the fight heightens the band plays harder and faster in response. It is truly the most elegant fighting style ever to exist and also one of the most unique. In short the beauty and uniqueness in this fighting style is the way it blends fighting and dance.

Hooray for Regional Capoeira! Hello from Rabo de Arraia group. The song is Paranaue from Only The Strong movie. Just to add, the main in capoeira is not to be stronger or faster or more clever. The main part is to be happy and to share happiness with your opponent.

It's called "Paranaue", and was featured in the movie Only the Strong, starring Mark Dacascos. Only the Strong was the first time most Americans had heard of Capoeira (it certainly was for me), so you'll actually see a lot of KZitem videos featuring the song.

capoeira is a form of fighting invented by the salves who were not allowed to practice martial arts, so they just said it's their way of dancing. It is not as efficient in a fight as modernd MA like boxing, K-1, Muay Thai, but it's very spectacular and esthetic. I love watching Capoeira shows :)

muito massa! I love this! for those guys who think this is a fight, u're wrong. It works kick, punches and this kind of stuff, but it is a dance. That's why some of you think this is similar to hip hop dance.People tell stories that Capoeira influenced on break dance, but I don't have a sure about this. Search if you want. I'm from Brazil.

I totally agree with the people who know what capoeira is actually about. This is a demonstration only, not an actual fight. If you want to see capoeira in action, check out the movie Hero, where the main character, a mui thai fighter, goes against a capoeira fighter. GREAT fight there.

Guy Capoeira isn't A FIGHT. The purpose of Capoeira is to NOT hit the other person. It's basically like dance fighting, or mimic fighting. You're not meant to hit the other person at all.

I study Martial Arts (Not physically I mean the books) Capoeira is absolute perfection in evading and great to confuse your foe but as for physical contact and defense its not so good, Once you get hit your pretty much out cuz you need to be firm to take a blow and moving around can make you loose that thought, as for attacking it has its 50/50 chance to be effective.

technically, yes, but more like free-running. both came from france, while capoeira is descended from martial arts used by afro-american slaves. martial arts were outlawed, so the slaves used dance movements to conceal their deadly attacks, making them more stealthy. this form grew to become todays capoeira. parkour is "how to get from point a to b in the fastest way possible", while free-running is just doing it with graceful movements, like flips and cartwheels, which could resemble capoeira.

Yeah - when it was made it was sort of meant to look like a dance because from my understanding practicing fighting was banned, so they made this fighting style that would trick the people who banned practicing fighting. Really cool style though.

Waldemar Santana--a Capoeira master defeated Gracie twice and took a draw from Grand Master Kimura. People underestimate Capoeira. and many do not give santana credit that is his due much like GM Chow. Anyone who can take Kimura to a draw has to be given much respect, no question. In his fighting career only four lucky individuals ever defeated GM Kimura - Japan's Greatest Judoka. and yet it is helio gracie who gets the kudos in Brazil when he lost to Santana and Kimura.
