On December 31, 2003 we released our third album, FARM LIVING. Why would an indie band, barely known outside (or even within) its own locale release something new on New Year's Eve? Well, it was one of just many bumbling mistakes the band would make over the coming years.
FARM LIVING was four guys writing a collection of songs in a hot, dank basement in Norristown, PA and then recording them in a nice basement--with a ping pong table--in Springfield, PA which we dubbed White Tuxedo Studios in honor of the framed Saturday Night Fever photo of John Travolta that adorned the wall. We added a fifth fella to overdub keyboards and piano. It was entirely a DIY process, from the recording, mixing, mastering and distribution. And we were surprised--and pleased--as hell when CDs started selling in Poland of all places. 20 years on it still sells the most of any of our work on streaming platforms. It's completion and release started our journey onto the road we'd take musically for the next two decades.
To mark the 20th anniversary of the occasion, we've made this video of the album's last song, "Captain Quaalude."
