For all of us who don't really give a flying F about the old VW bus, we likely see this design differently. The dual-tone is super cool and something different and the huge front VW logo is like the huge Benz star on an Actros semi trailer tractor; a bold and shameless statement in itself. As for the rest of the design, personally I really like it as it is modern and somewhat futuristic without going overboard. Looks a hundred times better than any other work van on the market, really.

The problem with KZitem channels that concentrate on such narrow field of products is that they tend to just hype the product category they review. For example many EV and Apple channels are similar in this matter. It goes to a point where you can't really rely on the reviews anymore when you only hear praises and hype. What I'm trying to say is that it's good to hear some honest critisism for change. It makes me trust your reviews more in general. 👍

I think that you are absolutely correct in saying that the styling of the concept models was much better, than what we have now, I much prefer the version shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011, it is a great shame that it was not the one they put into production. It is a missed opportunity in my view and I would love it to have the slightly oval headlamp shape and separate indicator lenses of the Beetle and Split Screen. They could easily be made to house LEDs. The main problem is that EVs are killing VW, due to ridiculous legislation surrounding their adoption, lack of demand, software issues and prices too high in view of the drop in quality of all VW products. My 1999 T4 will still be going long after I am dead and buried. The T4 was by far the best built Transporter model. Most VWs made after 2004 are NOT worth their premium price that was once, in my opinion, fully justified from 1985 to around 2004. I spent nearly half my working life at a VW dealers and a VW convertor, I have also owned two split screens, a bay window camper and had no less that 8 of the T25 and T4 models from new as company cars so I feel, in some way, qualified to comment.

@@Electroheads I’m interested in the panel van version to build a custom camper van. At the moment converting a classic Vw bus to electric would be a cheaper option for me (that’s converting it myself). I’ve owned (custom built) a few classic busses over the years and if I get another rather than building a performance petrol engine and gearbox I would convert to electric. But yes if it started at £28ish k and had cost options for tech extras etc then I would make this my next ev rather than the MG4. I can have the MG and buy a classic VW bus (and convert it to ev) for the same money as an iD Buzz!

Of course you can't make it like an old splitty, safety needs take care of that. Plus our demands of vehicle are sooo much greater now. If they had done that you'd all say how cramped it was. The infotainment is not the best but it's really not as bad as people make out on v3.0 and above. Certainly better than the Jag XE I had before the ID3. And AT LAST we can all have updates to infotainment systems - something that drove me mad in all ICE cars of old - compare it to the 6 year old system on our Audi A1 and the new stuff is light years ahead and it can be improved OTA. A Model Y is cheaper (can't believe I'm writing that), more efficient, quicker and when not in marshmallow white a good looking car (try it without black wheels - it starts to look purposeful). Looks are ok, it is simply as all suvs space waster - only 5 seats in 4,7 m long car, and as such it is far less family friendly as it should be. To have 7 seats we need to wait until end of next year and get LWB. As a result it will make it heavier, so to get good range, it is wise to get the biggest battery, which would make it heavier, so more hp is needed, so logic choice is to get AWD. All of this is making ID BUZZ to big, to heavy and without fantasitc turning circle van which is faar from ideal for city. VW is so hubris not giving us this option. 7 seats, RWD id buzz for city. Adding to the list - no vents in 2nd row, only 2 isofix sets and windows which does not open are simply lazy moves. VW knows how to make briliant compact van - Touran, 4,5 m, 7 seats, 5 isofix and childseat friendly tilt for 2nd row. This is 4,7, electric platform and does not evan have 3 seats in 2nd row - only the bench - like in id 4.... being heavier, bigger and less efficent.

You are absolutely right about the design. We were promised MUCH better designs. The actual production version is just a huge disappointment. The plastic chin back and front are just the same old SUV design language you have everywhere these days. The interior is cute enough.

Uninspired and bland design I think is the best you can say about it

So all your complaints are about the looks and its character. All of it is entirely subjective... No wonder 90k views and 200 likes.

Thanks for your comment, Dragos. Look, I'm new to presenting, this is only my second feature on the channel, and I'm learning a lot. Give me a chance 👊

On any sensible metric it completely rules itself out - £60K+ and less than 200 miles real range - it’s a toy for using in the dry for short journeys. Don’t get me wrong it will sell out in the small volumes VW will produce as there are enough people that will buy it but they really saw you coming.

I really liked the Buzz when I sat in it, of course it's not the same as the old ones, but it did make me smile. Heavens it would be a practical family car, loads of room for 5 people and loads of stuff. With the seats down it would be an awesome car for taking stuff to the tip. If I have £60k, I'd have one PS, please don't use clips of Putin apologist Corbyn whilst Russia murders Ukrainians, not fun

What an odd review. Pure click bait. Total failure of a review.

I live in an area teaming with every camper conversion, swamper and van known to man. Every other car is a pickup, VW camper, kombi or transit custom. I've only seen one of these, over priced and trading on hopium.
