the problem is a lot of dealers are overpaying for their stock from the auctions, but large dealers can buy cheaper and accept a lower profit margin, but looking at car price guides as a private individual cars are seriously overpriced and a lot of people are hanging on to their reliable cars and waiting for prices to fall

Hi Lee, I have been driving for nearly 50 years and I am now 67. Over the years I have owned many makes and models of cars. I had trouble with all of them at some point. The only cars which were perfectly reliable were Suzuki. Never broke down and passed MOT year after year with no advisories. Okay I only do about 1,700 miles per year which might explain this however, they are bloody good cars and not overly expensive compared to the competition.

The Giulietta is generally a very reliable car. We ran one for 7 years with only a few minor issues. I’ve got a 2017 Julieta and so far no issues, the car has had two updates over the original I believe and most of the internals are Fiat but overall internal quality is good. I brought it with the external temp sensor broken but this cost me £10 to replace of eBay instead of replacing the mirror. None of the problems they list with this car (if they happen) I’ve had happen with other makes of cars and are currently happening with current new cars like heaters stop working. My only problem is the arm rest isn’t correctly positioned and to high for the lower sporty gear stick, it doesn’t work unless I have cruise on. Listening to this guy he’s clearly pointing out every car most cars have problems. An Audi I owned spent just as much time in the garage as it did on the road, I wouldn’t touch a ford ecoboost engine or any wetbelts they have been failing from 30k yet they seem to be getting away with it, but if it was Alfa it wouldn’t.

Maybe helpful from a buyers perspective. I was looking for a car 2 years back, around the 15-22k mark. I got some quotes in, and adding up the finance fees', depreciation and emission fees, I simply couldn't commit to spending that amount of money. So, I decided to get an older vehicle and worked out if any repairs were required, it would still be cheaper than finance (obviously if it is financially worth it). I went out, and paid cash for a Daihatsu for £2800. It does everything I need, and 24 months later, 2 perfect MOT's, the car has not let me down and still holds the market value I paid for it.

Memorial Day here in US, remembering the history and sacrifice all around...one thing I find interesting is that most of your cars have manual transmissions, which are relatively trouble free as mechanisms go. We have been a nation of manuals from year dot but that has been changing with the improvements in auto boxes and the slide to more and more laziness. Up to that point bar 1 electric window motor (drivers side) and another small electrical problem (a relay went) all it needed was the usual wear and tear items (tyres, brakes) he had done 80k in it over 9 years and it was serviced every year. If it wasn't for the LEZ zone coming into effect he'd still have it as it was his words "one of the best cars i've owned, very reliable, fun to drive and despite not being bothered about cars i feel like i'm driving something special" . First people talking about how overpriced cars are and that prices will go down and then wonder why everyone holds decision of purchase the new one. What a paradox.

My focus was written off after a low speed accident, they did not want to repair it Went off to co part following week bought and back on the roadvas a minicab ooop north Insurance did not pay much, told me they used private sale values ?? Car had full service history from new Looked at a few private sales, all dodgy eastern European wheeler dealers, giving it tall tales, or some geezer on a council estate with a front garden full of bits and spray cans everwhere Ended up contacting lots of dealers, who never bothered answering their phones or emails Finally after a week found a dealer who answered the phone, was polite and most likely will be getting a bank transfer monday after a test drive

biggest bollox about buying from dealers is the VAT, incredible you can have a 10 years old car or van and still have to pay VAT, so people paying VAT on top of the price of the vehicle need their heads examined!.

A general election (and elections in general) always cools down trade. I've had a good few months and enquiries have also tailed off . There's also another batch coming off old mortgage deals along with the price spike caused by yet more post Brexit checks. Hang tight until the election results 👌

I often see an apparently really good buy and put it in my watchlist and increasingly they're still on eBay after MONTHS. Def a buyers' market.

I think Joe Public is still financially struggling at the moment given the cost of living despite the recession ending and inflation slowing down. People have not been poorer in the UK for many decades and it’s only getting worse. You’ve got the right idea with this car pitch Lee you’re focusing on exactly what people want right now cheap run abouts. By the way the Alfa looks great, a bit of class for not much money

You have some nice stock there Lee. Hopefully you will have more footfall on the pitch soon. My favourite car of your current stock is the Dacia Sandero, I love a bargain, and they represent budget motoring at its best❤.

Don’t get disheartened. It’s a combination of the Bank Hols, sports events, music festivals etc over the last month. Lot of people on their holidays at moment. You have some good stock on the forecourt I’m sure customers will return. PS. Spelling mistake in description of video.
