Yesterday, our team was able to release two sea turtles back to their home!
Cara, a sub-adult loggerhead, was found floating sideways by a boater. X-rays revealed a large amount of GI gas which was the cause of her buoyancy. With help from our veterinarians and team, Cara was cleared for release.
Gus, a juvenile green sea turtle, arrived lethargic and underweight. It was later determined that Gus was battling an infection that caused severe debilitation. After about 3 months of rehab Gus made a full recovery and was ready to head home.
Best of luck to Cara and Gus!
