I just made this and, let me tell you, it is insanity-producing deliciousness!!! The end result is a crisp, crunchy caramel corn that is perfect... and no, it does not need to be baked. I used a Thermapen (instant digital thermometer) to ensure I properly got the sugar mixture up to 300 degrees F. I used the pastry brush dipped in water to wash the pot's sides also and only gently swirled the pot from time to time. I started the heat at medium-low and gradually increased to medium-high because I felt more comfortable in doing so, as I did not want to scorch the caramel (I've never heated sugar up to 300 degrees F before). Lastly, I did butter my wooden spoon which really helps avoid sticking when tossing the popcorn with the caramel. Everything actually worked. It worked! And the product is excellent.

Will the caramel harden on top of the popcorn? Without baking it? Because in a lot of other videos they said to bake the popcorn
@joyofbaking
8 жыл бұрын
+dreaming.of.ag official Yes, the caramel does harden and that is because the caramel is cooked to the hard crack stage before it is poured over the popcorn. Some recipes don't cook the caramel as much, therefore the caramel corn needs to be baked in the oven in order for the caramel to harden.
