4 easy steps to a van resto: Buy van Make an instagram page, post pics of it before and after it's stripped Make a KZitem video on all their ideas and how they're going to do a full restoration Sell it on Facebook market place because they "don't have enough time" or " too many family commitments" 😂😂😂😂

Hey mate just wanted to say Ive quite enjoyed the series so far and that you've done an awesome job with it, my name is also Leigh and Ive recently purchased an old caravan.. Been working on it for the past few days then stumbled upon your caravan resto whilst looking for ideas and inspiration, I was like oi oi this guys got the same name as me definitely gotta watch this.. Then after watching all of the videos I have come to realize you and I are quite similar in personality as well, maybe guys named Leigh are just good cunts haha who knows? 😂 I also like what you said about the consumerism society we live in and how things are just not build the same way anymore, we obviously have new technology they didn't have back then but its not assembled with love or even strong material anymore because its made to be thrown away or break after 5 years like a tv.. So yeah mate give yourself a solid pat on the back for us because good job, you have a golden worldview deserving of admiration, well done mate.. 👏

I love what you said about our throw away society, I couldn't agree more. I also share your idea on old things being made with a sense of pride and then standing the test of time. Well done on your efforts to refurbish your van, top job. Good on you for your honesty when it comes to making mistakes with your approach and also your realistic attitude. Cheers Darren

I was wondering what colour you have used inside for the blue/green. Is it different to the outside?

Hey mate, very cool. I purchased a 1980 Viscount caravan. How does the brush and roller work look close up? I'm wondering if I should get mine sprayed or if I should paint with roller and brush? What's your take on that Leigh? Cheers

Personally I would spray if you have the conditions to spray, when I sprayed the primer I didn't thin it a great deal because I didn't have much sun left and the heat in the aluminum stops the primer from sagging, sanding runs out of ribbed panels isn't easy either compared to car panels so the primer was a bit peely too.. Overall it looks fine though, up close you can see the brush strokes but Picasso's best work would be the same.. Can't beat a really nice flat paintjob though, which I would have favoured if I had the right conditions at the time

I rolled mine as I don't have access to spray facilities. I added Flowtrol to my paint which helps remove brush strokes. Got it from Bunnings

There's thousands of other colours people can choose lol. I spent hundreds of hours restoring this to be a one off van, why would i want any one to copy my colour scheme?

Your philosophy is on the same page as mine..... but when it comes to retro caravans they r all made of shit design, shit material and a big pain in the ar$e to renovate cos u may as well rip the canopy off the trailer and rebuild the trailer from scratch, BUT u can't do that cos the frame is made out of shit wood from the 70's era, when my 81-82 Glendale has a solid Steal Alloy frame that u can use to lift the entire canopy off the trailer to rebuild it, which i wish i had the budget to do, I would even extend the wall height by another 12 inches atleast so i would have 12 inches of headroom giving me more aerial head cupboard space and on the outside use checker plate steal to fill up the gap which would be squared up to the same size as the trailer.
