First time it was shown on RawPower/PowerHour/NoisyMothers(UK Metal show that was on at stupid o'clock on tv back in them days, that changed name several times!!) i had just got home from usual partying escapades from youth years - unfortunately that night because i was a leather jacket wearing 'Metaller' i had got shit kicked outta me by a bunch of estate rats (we called them 'spides' were i lived back in them days!) just because i had long hair and happened to be passing through 'their area' on my way home. I had got home, blood pissing out of my nose, bust up face, black eye and various other injuries, with my mother asking what had happened to me but was more concerned to see what new tunes/videos had been on the show that week that i had my vhs recording (access to new music/vids was VERY limited in 1991!!) - i sat watching this vid over and over full of pure rage and anger when it fully hit me about the beating i took! Every time i see this vid/song i flashback to that night.

When I bought their first album it blew me away because this was the introduction to the genre of grind core and me being into the Cro mags,Poison Idea, Agnostic Front, etc, as well as death metal..this is what the underground punk/metal scene needed!!.

Carcass has such a unique sound. The heartwork riffs are so amazing. Mortal coil sounds like a death metal version of Iron Maiden the gallop riff. Such a good song

Crust-core-grind-core-death metal and somehow that mix sounds catchy ?!?! I still remember hearing this on headbangers ball and being blown away. This is one of my all time favourite tunes 😀

Just progressive death metal, dude. Earlier stuff is goregrind, later stuff is melodic death metal.

Absolutely agree with all comments, Ken had this groove (even during the blast beat grindcore days), it really comes to the fore on NDTI, HW, and Swansong...as for Paul Bostaph, yeah, the guy can play, but he is no Dave Lombardo; Wilding is pretty bloody good, an able replacement for Ken...

Thank you for this!! The "problem" with the lyrics of Carcass is that IMO that they are very tongue in cheek. Sorry if I mispelled that. I am not sure of the right spelling. A friend from Norway. Ps! Yes, I have ages ago bought the vinyl.
