I don't know why everyone is siding with the ump. When the dude is consistently making the wrong calls it handcuffs you as to what you can do at the plate. Contreras had the right to get pissed off.

MLB has tried to fix everything about the game EXCEPT for the horrendous home plate umpiring. Apparently calling balls and strikes is the most difficult job in the history of mankind. These guys make 20 or more mistakes per game. Bring on the electronic strike zone. End of problem.

Love how the umpires won’t give the hitter that late time out in the box.. but he has no problem stopping the pitchers in mid windup .. to toss a player from the game..

I get it let him chirp, but Contreras couldve been easily tossed at that and the ump gave him another shot... You had your tantrum contreas now move on already. I cant stand when the umps do too much or takeover the game. But not seeing it here in this case... But what do i know?!

Yeah sure that pitch was below the zone, but if you turn towards the Ump and break your bat youre asking to be ejected. Some self control would help. He can still yell from the dugout if he wants to.

2. Both called strikes were low. Very low. He was expanding and swung at a pitch he definitely lays off without having 2 strikes on him already. 100% on the umpire and his thin skin not letting him be in the dugout. He's off the field. Are these umpires going to start throwing fans out that complain about their missed calls?

With the game sped up now, they should give teams one pitch challenge for the game. If your challenge is correct, you keep the challenge. Maximum one challenge per inning. Or something to that extent.

How stupid can St. Louis be. They knew Molina was going to retire. Being in the same division they knew how Contreras was literally the biggest whiner in the league. He fully expects his manager to make a complete butt out of himself to every umpire who dares to call a close strike against him. Enjoy it St. Louis!

They ask for robot umps and I say it won't matter. That 3rd pitch is a perfect example. Clearly a strike and still complains.

get a clue. the complaint was the two pitches that were both low, out of the strike zone by 5-6 inches. umpires get upset with you question their obvious mistakes.

@gary @concerned citizen. He’s not talking about the two pitches in the next at bat. He’s talking about his first at bat where a batter can still find fault in a pitch that was called correctly (3rd pitch of the 1st ab, Contreras did show body language where he showed disagreement with the call) Even if there were robot umps, a batter would still complain on same exact pitch. He’s just talking about robot umps in regards to the first ab and nothing else.

@@Harcorwrestler and that’s not why he was ejected. he was ejected because the umpire missed two pitches that were not even close. pitches that the cardinal pitcher was not getting. he complained ump decided to make the game about him and ejected him….even though he could not possibly see who was yelling from the dugout. so many ejections come after umpires have blown a call.

First off, everything that happened, stemmed off that one pitch in Contreras' first plate appearance, that actually was a strike. Second - The umpire has been calling the low strike. Umpires (just like the players themselves) can't be perfect 100% of the time. I mean take Contreras for example. He's kind of a hypocrite for getting pissed at the umpire for missing the low strike call....when Contreras was wrong about the strike call in his first PA. Third - Umpire called the exact same pitch a strike both times. I understand a Ball is a Ball, and a Strike is a Strike....but until we get robot umpires, we use human umpires. All players can ask for, is for an umpire to be consistent. Which this umpire was in this case. Fourth - I could understand Contreras getting pissed after his strikeout, IF he had chased a ball in the dirt. I play ball, and I hate when a Ball is called a Strike (for example, low, like in this video)... then the pitcher throws an even lower pitch that is clearly a Ball, but I swing at it because the umpire has been calling low strikes....... in THAT case, it is quite irritating and I can understand a player getting extra upset. But Conteras chased a ball high and out of the strike zone.

Oliver marmol has to be fired. I swear to God I'm about to stop watching the Cardinals until they fire this guy. He is pathetic. Players don't want to play for him.. Do we have to have another player-manager incident for it to be clear?? You skipped Adam Wainwright in the 2022 postseason. He didn't touch the ball and we got eliminated. The pitch in the first inning was in the strike zone. The two pitches in the 5th were clearly down, but the ump had been calling them for both teams. Lucky to not get ejected when he shattered his bat, didn't get away with the chirping from the dugout. Do a better job of controlling your emotions.

No wonder Atlanta didn’t want him anymore. Dude cries like nobody else. I’ve seen him smash his bat into a thousand pieces so many times after striking out I’ve lost count. Yeah, he took two close pitches just outside the zone for called strikes, but that happens quite often. Typical scrub.

I truly feel baseball players are nothing but grown-ass babies complaining and crying over anything that doesn't go their way. With that said, the Umps are killing this game ejecting a player for having emotions. I didn't pay $80.00 a ticket for the noise bleed section to have my favorite player toss out of a game because he looks at an Ump funny. This is killing the MLB, NBA., and the NFL!
