Great video Mark, you really gave a good overview of how the bootcamp works. Right now I'm considering to enroll in the course myself. If you don't mind me asking you, how is the job market for web developers in London, is it a good place to be looking for web developers jobs? (ps. I also live there)
@MarksTechVlogs

Hey, I'm just outside of London in Essex but I'd say there's lots of developer jobs out there at the moment, however, the junior market is pretty tough so I'd certainly be prepared for the search to take a while but also I'd try and find opportunities to do projects outside of the course so you have some real-world client experience too. Hope that's helpful. Mark

Thank you for such a detailed and honest review! Will definitely use your referral link if I join the school. Out of curiosity how long did finding a job after graduation take? And is it was possible to complete the program in less time provided or more if needed? Thanks and congrats on the carrer change! 🙂

Thanks Dana. I actually made a video about finding a job in the middle of a pandemic here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/0Yt-p3aDnouYZaw - It took me less than 2 months but CareerFoundry tend to say up to 6 months. In terms of the course, I knew some coding beforehand so found that I had about 2 months to spare and because it's self-paced you can put more time in earlier on if you want to as well. Does that hep? :-)

@@MarksTechVlogs Thanks Mark for getting back to me so fast. The course now costs Euro 5,900! I am wondering if the course is completely text-based and as a beginner, it is important that I can follow through with it smoothly. By the way, I just subscribed to your channel. :)

@@aprilgo-ga1667 That has increased since I did it then! - In terms of the content it was about 95% text based which I found easy enough to follow through. I also liked the side of the course that has mentors and tutors so you can connect with a real person in the industry if (and when) you get stuck. I don't know what (if any) coding experience you have but it might be worth having a look through some of the material on freeCodeCamp.org before spending money on a bootcamp and have a look at Travsy Media and The Net Ninja on KZitem, they both make excellent videos explaining coding. Finally, if the cost of the course means it's not a viable option you could look at www.altcademy.com - Their course (even with career support) is about $1700 however it is completely text based and you don't have the face-to-face tutors and mentors. I don't know how impartial your review is since CF gave you the permission to film the dashboard, because in the contract it is clearly stipulated that such things are not allowed. There is no way I would recommend CF for the Web Development course to anyone. The communication with tutor and mentor are horrible. CF is working with third parties. That means your tutor and mentor can be located anywhere in the world and they won't give a s**t about their reviews. Most of the tutor's answers are Copy/Paste. Topics like React, Angular, OOP are covered extremely superficially. And if someone makes himself illusions that they can land a job by being "absolute beginner" please forget it.
@MarksTechVlogs
3 жыл бұрын
Hey, Actually...I didn't realise you weren't allowed to film the dashboard (I never asked permission). I deliberately didn't film the content of the course however for obvious reasons. It sounds like we had very different experiences. I found the communication with my mentor and tutor fine. My tutor was based in London and was excellent at responding to projects and answering questions and my first mentor was located in the Netherlands and my second mentor located in Africa. I never had any issues in communicating at all and they were both very knowledgable and I was able to check their credentials via LinkedIn. I completely get that everyone's experience of a course like this (and indeed any bootcamp) will be completely different but everything on my KZitem channel is impartial. It would be interesting to hear more about your experience of the course and, if you're still doing it and struggling with your tutor/mentor I'd encourage you to reach out to CareerFoundry with those issues...if I can help with any of your learning journey too then do let me know Mark

4 months seems like an awfully short time to learn full-stack and get a job straight after. Their UX course is even longer than this. Would you say it was hard? Does it even give you the option to specialise in front/back end?

Thank you for making this video. Currently I am debating between Springboard and CareerFoundry (Full Stack Web Dev career path). Do you have any suggestion? I am open to other online bootcamps too.
@MarksTechVlogs

I don’t know much about Springboard but from their website their course looks very similar. I know Makers and a couple of others also do remote ones. One thing it could be worth doing is looking at jobs in your local area and seeing what they’re looking for and to see how that compares to what the bootcamps teach. If you have any other questions about CareerFoundry’s course as you keep looking feel free to ask 😄

@@MarksTechVlogs Thank you for your prompt response. I do have some other concerns: 1. When you apply for jobs, does CareerFoundry bootcamp's reputation help you (or employees only care about your skills and bootcamp's name does not matter)? 2. As I noticed, CareerFoundry is based on Germany, I am not sure if it is suitable for Americans.
@MarksTechVlogs
3 жыл бұрын
@@howiewang4238 1. I'm not sure having the CareerFoundry name behind the bootcamp makes any difference compared to other bootcamps, I think it's more about showing that you've completed something and being able to show the skills you've gained. I know a lot of employers want some kind of experience beyond portfolio projects and tutorials so if you can also find some freelance stuff to do (even if it's a website for a friend's business) then that will look good too. 2. I'm based in the UK and didn't find them being in Germany made them any less suitable, they have tutors and mentors all around the world (my tutor was based in London, my 1st mentor based in Amsterdam and my 2nd mentor based in Africa)
