It's George alright. He recorded this at Andrew Ridgeley's parents house using a portable 4 track recorder, drum machine, bass guitar and electric guitar for £25.

Respect to Andrew Ridgely for the riff. I didn't know until watching the Netflix doco that this was a true collaboration. Andrew with the rough structure and centrepiece riff and George with the lyrics and melody. And fair play to Andrew also, as he's probably made a nice living from it ever since.

During these years I was listening to The Damned, Stiff Little Fingers and The Ruts. So as you can imagine I had little time for George, Wham, or anything else that was in the charts to be honest. But!! All these years later, when you mature, you learn to recognise talent even if it's not to your taste. And wow, was he a talented guy! I hope Andrew Ridgeley realises how lucky he was to get his moment of fame because of George's talent that carried them both to success. Then he went on Gervais' Extras!!!!! He allowed himself to be parodied, and that showed the great sport, with a great sense of humour that he was as well! I was never a fan, but I have so much respect for him. Another talent taken too soon! They do say, The flame that burns so bright, burns for half the time!

He had no cosmetic work done. He was fatter in his teens. But he put enormous amount of work in his looks. Tanning, hair, eyebrows, mascara, stubble, sometimes a bit of make up, the best clothes, etc. He was extremely insecure about his looks according to his ex partner. I guess we all recognize a bit of George Michael in ourselves. Ironically, Andrew Ridgeley said about himself that he was comfortable with himself, but he was the one doing two nosejobs. So, I guess everybody has insecurities, even Andrew.

I love it! Biggest song of the 80s and this was the embryo. He had the chord changes, lyrics and vocal melody line early and it's solid so the rest of the work to do was fleshing the idea out to make the song. The hook of the song; the saxophone melody, must have been a fortunate happenstance. Again, proving my theory that in songwriting once the kernel of the idea is complete and whole then it emanates its own magic that makes the instrumentation and arrangement all fall into place.
