This is the product of over a year of hard tedious labor...
There are 27 bells. Each operates a clapper, damper, and some RGB leds. The clappers are capable of varying their velocity which means the bells have a very wide dynamic range. The damper allows the note to be silenced and also opens up the possibility of mortello hits and true use of sustain pedal.
The bell mechanisms were 3D printed while the box and stand are mostly Walnut as well as Cherry, Poplar, and Alder. There is a custom PCB inside each bell with an ATTINY402 chip. The central controller is a raspberry pi 3B+. There are three power supplies: 48v for clapper coils, 12v for damper coils, and 5v for everything else.
There are all sorts of patches the LEDs can use to respond to the notes being played. The patch in this demo is simply to gradient between blue for low notes and red for high notes; fading off after the note is played.
The carillon can play back a midi file, or be played as a normal instrument via any usb midi keyboard.
