Carlos was in the zone that night. Every note played to perfection. This is perhaps not just his greatest performance ever, it might be one of the greatest pieces of music ever performed! And his band is absolutely stellar

Carlos Santana has showed us that no matter what obstacles we face in life they can be over come I say this after seeing him being honored along along with the ex President Obama along with My idol and great musician Mr. Herbie Hancock I just can't imagine how he felt . Him along with the other musicians received recognition for the years of hard work and dedication to the music they make and continue to do thank you Mr. Santana for all the music you bring to us

Excelente versión, aunque no puede ser de 1982 ya que PRS fue fundada en 1985. Calculo que debe ser como del 87 u 88.

As far as I know, Paul Reed Smith provided Santana with one of his guitar before the formal birth of the brand. It seems that Paul hardly succeeded in meeting Carlos, who did not intend to try an unknown luthier's product; the story tells that he accepted to try one just to get rid of Paul, but then... never wanted a different axe but PRS!

You can see the full story on how Carlos got his first PRS guitar here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/raCF24eKoJykqoY and ultimately decided to switch from his signature Yamaha SG2000 to what became own signature PRS. Carlos played both the Yamaha SG2000 and the PRS guitar for a number of years in the early 80's. Several live concerts on KZitem, where you can see him playing both in concert. Including the 1982 concert from Germany.

@@MrCaliforniaLivin No..that has been my opinion since I owned an all mahogany one in the late 80's and in the early 90's with our singers flamed Maple capped one. They were both the genuine set neck ones not the compromise bolt on thing. Both guitars sounded twerpy..I hear twerpyness in Santana's PRS guitar..compared to a good Gibson or the SG he used to play and the Yamaha. Twerpy is the best way I can describe it..he would sound better much with a good late 50's Les Paul. When I used to bring that Yellow PRS to band practice the band used to say oh no man not that guitar again why don't you bring the Junior (57'Les Paul Junior) Both my ears were good then unlike now

@@merseybeat1963 I understand and see your perspective now. What I'm saying tho, is that I play guitar too. And I got a really good ear for sounds and background fuzz or noise. But , I think it's awesome and unique when really good guitarists use different guitars time to time. And I truly feel like Santana sound right here was unique with that guitar. But I know what you mean when you say twerpy haha I've felt that way about some old Jefferson airplane live show recordings, as well as buffalo springfield. And they always have a version of some song played live, that sounds way better than the other ones. That's the beauty of love music tho, it's all raw talent and improvisation can be thrown in at random, and we never know what moods or what the musicians went thru that day they played their show, and how their day affected their mood..which affects the way they play too. You dig?

@@MrCaliforniaLivin I'm not even referring to his playing..just the sound of Paul Reed Smith guitars. Put a 59" Reissue Gibson Les Paul in his hands and it will sound better to 90 percent of the people. I come from Jamaica Queens New York..one of the best guitar players in the neighborhood around 1969-75' was a guy named Frank Quintero..very talented guy. I hadn't talked to him in like 20 years some 10 years ago. While talking and mentioning Santana he said the same thing to me..that he sounded better with the Gibson/Yamaha. Incidentally Santana at one time lived for a while in our neighborhood Jamaica Queens in the early 70's..I don't know what house he lived in but he had become interested in Sri Chinmony and the Guru's that settled there. In the neighborhood at the time was also the guitar player John McLaughlin who was also interested in Sri Chinmoy. He and Santana made an album together "Love Devotion Surrender" The Guru's as the following were called used to paint things a light blue.In the mid 80's my mom was looking for a house in the neighborhood..and we went to see this light blue brick house and in the basement was the remnants of the small divided sections of a recording studio..it was John McLaughlin's house. Cheers

@@merseybeat1963 there was a reason santana chose prs gibsons are so prone to going out of tune plus with the double cut design this guitar has santana can easily access the 15th fret and lower
