Great song! Carly Simon had so many great hits in the 70's such as "You're So Vain", "Haven't Got Time For The Pain", "Attitude Dancing", "Anticipation", "Coming Around Again", "Nobody Does It Better" (from the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me), "Jesse", "Legend In Your Own Time", "The Right Thing To Do", "(We Have) No Secrets" etc. She was married at one time to James Taylor & they did a few duets together "Mockingbird" & "Devoted To You".

So far, I’ve NEVER seen a single reactor who realized why the camera was doing a close-up of “those two guys” chatting!😅 (Which… Art Garfunkel, I understand them not recognizing, but the Beatles are SO famous and George has such a unique appearance… but he’s not in “the Beatles context” here, so I get it… Just like, for example: If you showed most folks a picture of Roger Taylor or esp John Deacon outside the context of Queen, they’d have NO idea who they were.)🤔

I was so in love with Carly Simon! Her early albums were the soundtrack to my teen years. Amazing songs, but this one was always my favorite. It was somehow profound to me; the sadness and resignation that she captured. I'm so glad that you discovered this one. I hope there'll be more. Everyone, including me, loves "Your So Vain", her most signature song. Also "Anticipation", "You Belong to Me". "Haven't Got Time for the Pain", "Nobody Does it Better"...

Back when this song was written, and popular, women didn’t really have much choice to do something other than marry, and have children. So this was kind of an anthem against that stricture of societal expectation. Plus, it was really beautiful in a minor key sort of way.😊

Also of note, this is the first single she ever released, back in 1971. It was everyone's introduction to Carly Simon. It seemed different in that moment; sad and contemplative. Not standard top 40 fare. But it sure connected with a lot of people, and made her an instant star. So you're starting at the perfect place in her career.
