I went to Carl Orff primary school. They, along with the adjoined secondary school, put on a massive production of the Carmina Burana every couple of years, so I was on stage dancing to Floret Silva Nobilis at age eight or nine, we were on local TV, and none of us had any idea how raunchy these songs were. But ever since that time, the Carmina Burana hasn't left me. Thank you for this amazing explanation of the music!

The climax where they sing “sors salutis” is one octave higher. We used to have such a hard time transitioning to that because we had to start screaming on the climactic part 🤣

Loved the intro and explanation of the Carmina. I think while Orff's Carmina is popular, he is underestimated as a composer. The piece draws one in so that one really isn't aware of the wonderful, complex musical structure that Orff implements to do that. I think your explanation does a really great job in highlighting the underlying musical genius. Thanks!!

First listened to Carmina Burana watching a KZitem 18+ bombing video. I then progressed to randomly see a Flash Mob gang perform, at an airport - Which was great too! I could not begin to understand what the piece was all about or make sense of it. The sad bombing and the happy airport scene being at totally opposite ends of any life. I did a bit of research and found little, so left it there. Get the wheel bit and the breaking down of the music is appreciated - Thank you When is part 2, 3 and 4 being explained?

Its a poem from a compilation of works by Roman leader Boethius. O Fortuna is about the wheel of fate bringing success or misery indiscriminately, and was written while he awaited his execution after being charged with treason.

goes well with time in which the work was written, surrealizm was the thing then, with impressionizm used as the other core of this choral music
