This interesting archaeological site features the ruins of a religious compound once known as The Convent of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Founded by a Knight (Nuno Alvares Pereira) in the late 14th century, it was considered to be one of the most beautiful Gothic churches around until the earthquake of 1755. It now serves as a museum showcasing the history and archaeology of the region, and inside are the tombs of many historic figures. The ruins of Carmo Convent is an attraction every traveler must see when visiting Lisbon, Portugal.
