I couldn't figure out what was going on...I got it figured out and am now back to my goal weight. But man I was worried lol I do not eat the frankenfoods but something once a month or when I have to go out of town and need something easy so I never felt it was those. I was disciplined to the point I stuck to the rules, no cheat days, no frankenfoods unless a real reason, I was thriving. It was hormones, im 47 now, and I had to switch how I ate a little because what worked for me at 249lbs doesn't at 125lbs. I think I totally revamped my metabolism too. Awesome job again!!!🙌 I know it wasn't always easy

I like carnivorecatlady's metrics. Different ways to measure progress. I have one ultimate way to measure is 'did I give up?'. If I give up, I notice it in 2 days. I can lose a pound a week. I want to scream. But be patient, self. It is working. My mantra is 'NEVER GIVE UP'. Fall down, pick yourself up and get going again. If anyone says they tried it, it didn't work, I tell them they did it wrong. Keto works, Carnivore works. But part of the process is that you MUST NEVER GIVE UP.

@@CarnivorousMe1 I cheat regularly, but I"ve noticed that the longer I strive for carnivore, the better I do even when I'm cheating. For example, I might get waffles, but I prefer my coffee sugar free. I might get fries, but still no bun on the burger. Ultimately, carnivore has changed the way I think about food on an internal level to the point where even when I give myself permission to eat plants, there are still limitations to what I feel comfortable doing! I definitely see carnivore as a lifestyle at this point

When I want to lose fat I buy I bunch of eggs, boil them all and stove them away in the fridge. Eating eggs with every meal or whenever you feel like snacking is a game changer. Very satiating. They're like 70kcal an egg I think, and you probably won't be eating more than four at any time. So meat+eggs.

Interesting... I actually have a very different experience. I have been carnivore for about 10 months. I initially lost about 5 pounds then spent time gaining and losing that 5 pounds. For a long time I suspected that I was under eating. Whenever I would count my calories to see how many I was consuming, I would come in around 1400-1800 calories per day. After 5 months of not losing weight, I decided to try increasing my calories. I have always eaten until comfortably full because I hate the feeling of being stuffed. It was hard to pack the food in, but I increased my calories up to 2500. I'm average height and moderately active. I was also breastfeeding at the time which increased my estimate by about 200 calories. It took a month, but I was able to increase my hunger (I think maybe my hunger hormones are messed up) so that I can easily eat that amount now. I gained 5 pounds initially but lost it within a few weeks. After several months of increased calories I still was not losing weight, though I was seeing other improvements. I decided to incorporate fasting, which I have done before but was unsuccessful. My weight would always bounce straight back up. In January I started fasting two days a week and now I'm FINALLY losing weight. I've lost 18 pounds which is a miracle. I've been trying to lose weight for 10 years and this is the first time I've been able to lose this much. I don't think fasting is a good long-term solution, but it's just a tool for now. I think this strategy is working for me because I'm guessing I have high cortisol (stress hormone) which tells my body to hang on to weight. I'm wondering if it's high from years of under eating? Now that I'm getting enough regular intake, maybe my body is ok with releasing fat when I fast. I'm just glad it's working; it's incredibly demoralizing to be stuck when everyone else has the weight just fall off. Everyone's story is different. I'm glad you're finding what works for you. Hang in there and I hope what you're doing keeps working! I know how hard it is to be stuck for long periods of time!

I decided at 44 with my doc atkins was what i wanted to do.I didnt have a stall... i had a FULL ON GAIN after maintainingmy goal weight for over a year!!!! When i started i did not have to worry about anything but sugar and carbs. No calorie counting, no macro tracking.. i lucked out. I lost 131lbs total, and maintained great for over a year. Then with no change to ANYTHING i noticed weight gain. And no matter what i did it wouldn't stop. I almost gave up when i hit the 30lb weight gain. I started REALLY REALLY tracking everything i put in my mouth. Heres what i think happened with me. I went from 249lbs to 125. My metabolism changed. What worked for my 249lb body doesn't work for my 125lb body. I had to think more like a "normal weight" person. It was definitely a learning experience for me. Luckily, im back on track. Oh also, men stink with how much easier loosing weight can be for some of them!!! And another big issue for us females is hormones.

But deep down I know that it is because I am making mistakes like subtracting fiber from the net carbs. I have also realized that I have to keep my carbs below 15 carbs a day like you. I have PCOS as well, maybe that is a factor. Either way, I have no wiggle room and have to be so very careful. It gets difficult sometimes! Ok I'm really confused because everyone else says don't track your calorie intake~ might of fact~ if you work out~ you need about 2000 calories a day.... I feel a little confused about this one. Maybe you need to talk with Dr Ken Berry again~ counting calories is dumb~ per his podcast 11 months ago... it's about energy in and energy out.... girl I just don't know... this seems a little off.. but perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you're saying. 🤔😊

I clarified that calories are imperfect, the CICO is not a balanced equation. I ONLY use calorie intake to recognize how much energy I'm consuming, I'm not trying to counterbalance X amount eaten minus X amount exercised, that does not work which is what CICO says it does. A blanket 2000 calories for every person who works out is ridiculous (not call you ridiculous just the idea), the amount of energy our bodies need depends on age, gender, genetics, HEAVILY on how much we move during the day, etc. Someone who walks 30 min daily to exercise needs a heck of a lot less energy then someone who lifts weights for 2 hours. I do understand why you are confused, may dont speak about this because CICO has been just beaten into our heads (again I say it inaccurate). We cannot negate the fact that food is energy and energy cant just disappear, it HAS to go somewhere. Our bodies dont just poop eaten energy out, it saves it for rainy days (i.e. adipose storage). I think were most people are confused is they think im advocating for calories in = calories out, I am not.

Most Carnivore doctors say “avoid drinking 2h before and after a meal, otherwise you’ll undereat (you’ve filled up with fluid) and dilute the stomach acids, so it doesn’t do its job as it should”. I follow that, otherwise I undereat severely, and my body will then start storing fat again. 🤷🏻♀️

Here is what happened to me on carnivore. When I didn't lift weights, I lost weight. When I was lifting weights, my waistline kept getting slimmer, but I wasn't losing any weight. I think it comes down to muscle weighs more than fat, and you build muscle like crazy on the carnivore diet if you lift weights.

Men build muscle MUCH fast then women (higher levels of testosterone) and due to mass differences utilize more energy stores i.e. more weight loss faster. Plus not having to deal with hormonal changes. I get what your saying, about fat/muscle, they actually weight the same what you are meaning is a lbs. of muscle is more dense so takes of less space then a 1lb of fat

Love the no B.S. approach. I like you have done 35 days , hours upon hours of research and am still confused. We are 35 days into carnivore. I’ve lost 8 lbs hubby 12, so unfair. 😝 I still have 1 1/2 cups coffee with tsp sugar and half and half every morning. I eat no other carbs at all, we have bacon, eggs, ribeye for breakfast. Around 700 or more calorie's just breakfast. Then lunch 2 to 3 burger patties. That’s it. . I am so lethargic and need to lay down after. My sleep was never good only 6 hours a night. Go to bed at 9:30 PM and up by 330 4:00 AM. We have fasted for 15 to 18 hours every other day. We only have two meals a day. Burgers, beef, bacon eggs. After every meal I am in the bathroom 😩 I feel I may need more protein. I am turning 61 in April and trying to get rid of belly and tone up again. Hate being tired all the time. Help!

For the most part of my weight management all these years, I realized I have been sabotaging them over and over again. Usually it was strict diets and with little food, so I would get really hungry and that drove me crazy. It fed into my depression, my inner self asked why was I torturing myself... then.. I caved in. But ever since I started on Carnivore diet, I am constantly feeling full, so I don't really have food cravings as of now. I am optimistic that this may work this time.

I would probably add: Don't rely on the scale to track your progress. If you're gaining muscle your weight may go up. But if your clothes are fitting better and you are feeling good, that's a better way to track. For me, I've done some pretty extreme diets in the past, which has totally tanked my metabolism. I have found now that the only way I can lose weight is if I eat fewer than 900 calories/day. That's not realistic of course if I want to get the nutrition I need. So I carry on with carnivore (just meat, fat, salt, water for me) and hope that it will help my system sort itself out one day. I'm not losing weight, but it wasn't the main point anyway. I need it for my health.

Don’t weigh every day. A weight loss of half a pound a week is 25 pounds a year which is a stellar accomplishment. But that’s only 2 pounds a month. The best carnivore influencers took YEARS to achieve their current weight levels. Don’t expect the big water whoosh that happens month 1 to continue. In Dr. Berry’s words, “you need Vitamin P” (patience). I’m convinced people get discouraged and eat off plan far more than they acknowledge. It is frustrating to realize one cheat meal can sabotage an entire week’s worth of effort but it can.

I am in my late 60's with PCOS , metabolic syndrome, Fatty liver disease, all causing low metabolism especially due to an auto accident that changed my life for the last 20 years. Stress and Cortisol levels are up after my daughter's death, 5 years ago,, and the stress I was under, prior to this event as I watched her self destruct. It is a huge ongoing thing to be the pillar of the family, even as far as age 9 as I am the oldest of 6 kids, and had to be the mother to a certain degree . Long story! I have tried just about EVERYTHING to be healthy and lose weight since I sustained injuries from that accident....so it is a BEAR to get and keep weight off. I am happy with the Carnivore diet because I am satiated but have not seen as much progress yet, and don't want to give up. I have problems with being allowed to have cheese on this diet, so that is something I am working on to omit this from my eating plan. I do not crave sugar so that is good. I wish I could talk to you, but I am sure you have tons of people to coach. Thanks for your input and your example that Carnivore can work, if you can get the bugs out of what and what not to do!

I know it can be really frustrating when we want things to go along at a certain pace, however as I have sadly found out as well, it doesn't go at our desired pace. You are doing exactly what you need to, take small steps forwards. The one thing I CAN suggest is tracking your dietary intake. Some people can easily over eat cheese and need to remove it, some people like me don't. I know MANY people say remove the cheese first, why is that though? because cheeses/diary are highly dense in energy (they are mostly just fats), removing all the extra energy consumed = weight loss. Just saying IF you are okay treating diary like ketchup and track your intake dont feel forced into removing it (unless you are allergic thats a different story!)

I switched to measuring things with a scale. Its less cleaning usually too, but its absolutely more accurate than using measuring cups. I was always under the impression that your body can't digest insoluble fiber, but can digest soluble fiber just to a lesser degree than carbs / fat / protein. But either I'm remembering wrong or the internet isn't claiming that anymore. Although I just found a video saying soluble fiber is lower in calories meaning it does get digested.

I think it’s great that you are paying attention to what’s going on with you and actively asking questions and looking for solutions. Glad to hear that the scale is moving for you again. I agree that tracking can be useful and am trying to get myself to do it. I also agree total carbs is the matrix we should be looking at as carnivores. I think the most important thing is to stay on program. By that I mean not giving myself permission to eat non carnivore foods. I will push the hell out of the limits but fingers crossed so far out of 121 days I have crossed the line with some Primal products but other than that I have not eaten any plant based foods, artificial sweeteners or seed oils. Scale is going down but I’m still waiting on that boundless energy. I’m hopeful tracking can help with that. Cheers

Its actually not a hassle at all, its a hassle doing it on the SAD when we eat 100 different foods, carnivore = weight food add food done. And yes people DO stall eating meat and eggs, eating 12 eggs and 2 lbs. of meat isn't conducive for a female to lose weight if they don't need that much food. BINGE eaters lack the ability to know when enough is enough. Sugar/carbs yes DO lead to physiological addiction however people with food addictions it doesn't matter the food, its the fact they eat their emotions, yes it harder to ON meat BUT it still does happen. As far as diary I HAVE taken it away and had zero change in weight loss, why? I really don't eat much of it anyways. For MOST people this isn't necessary AGAIN its for those who are stuck. Just because you haven't experienced it doesn't mean its not happening, thank goodness life isn't just based off your view and experiences or we wouldn't have 99.99999% of the knowledge or advancements in the world. I don't mean that rudely either, we need all sorts in to make the world go around.

the American Diabetes Association stresses the importance of multiple small meals every day. Why? They teach that eating 1 large main meal a day, teaches our body that the next meal might not be for a long time!, so rather than using the food we eat; instead our body STORES OUR MEAL AS FAT!, as it thinks it’s got to preserve itself with STORED FAT!, because it doesn’t know when the next meal might be!? Therefore, the American Diabetes Association has found that multiple tiny meals helps lose weight!, as it tricks our body into thinking that food is always plentiful!, and that (our body) doesn’t have to store fat for starvation! If you ate MEAT numerous times a day; I would think one would see the biggest success.

I've been looking into deuterium. Metabolic health, especially related to mitochondria, is strongly affected by this factor. One of the effects of excess deuterium is difficulty of losing body fat.
