Dig the heavy approach, make sure your accents don’t affect the first left in ssl. The first measure of tap roll, the tap space was a little slurred and I assumed it was a tiny mistake but your tap 5’s are occasionally slurred too so make sure you’re following underlying rhythms!! Also double check the rhythms in flee, make sure you’re not slow coming out of the 16th note flam accents back into the triplets, and make sure the quarter note triplets and ninelet three’s aren’t too open! Last thing I promise (hopefully you posted this for feedback otherwise I am so sorry for commenting lol) make sure you don’t squeeze your downstrokes. There are a couple points throughout the video where your taps get thin after downstrokes and a few times you can hear a buzz/second note on a tap or two and that’s probably because of excess tension in your hands. You’re already incorporating a lot of arm in the floats and preps so make sure you’re relaxed so that the weight of the arm does the work and it doesn’t feel like you’re adding tension, let gravity help you!!! Awesome sound quality and performance :) good luck!!!

Pretty great sound quality hand to hand. My only comment is having more musicality playing through the exercises. Also, SSL transitions from the edge back to center of the snare. Honestly, though just keep jamming and hope to see you at December camp.

You're definitely a performer. I like the playing-through-the-head, though let the sticks do all the work _for_ you. Let the sticks move _you,_ not the other way around. Think of yourself as a "stick dribbler." Gotta let go. Relative to the Crown dudes, notice how much you're overly muscling at the top. Again, great performer's enthusiasm/moxie, though there is a clear visual difference between _your_ locomotion and the average locomotion of any of the fellas in the top-12 lines. With the sound turned all the way down, what are all the little differences you notice between how that dude there with the blue shirt at the red drum moves and the way each Carolina Crown dude moves? Conjure both the brass-tacks languaging _and_ the _abstract_ languaging. _Keep going man!_ You in 120 months from now will be extraordinarily grateful your now-self thoroughly imbued into your being the virtues of patience, diligence, fortitude, and moxie. Amongst your shattered-attention-span Gen-Zers, you will be a high-value human for sure. It's obvious😉

First I hope you make it! Waaaayy to much head movement and upper body movement. Just play the drum. You keep time like you’re trying to stomp out a fire. Relax. Consider doing this same video with a harness on and see what all that extra movement does to your quality of sound as your drum moves around with all the extra movement. Not saying you can’t groove but keep it under control. Best of luck.

you could use a little more wrist in the left hand taps, make sure youre not squeezing the downstrokes (mainly tap rolls and paradiddles),and make sure you show off your musicality. crown plays a lot of loud but like any core they play quiet too. Other than that it was very sold, keep it up man!!

Take back the tempo a bit (20 clicks or so) on the back half of Flee.1 and really focus on nailing those hand speed changes. Quality seems to suffer a bit and rhythmic integrity is questionable in a couple spots throughout it, especially the ninelet partials. Additionally, 24-29 sound pretty unstable pulse wise. Your duple eighth notes feel too laid back in the pocket, setting those sixteenth notes up to fall behind. As a general note, these flams in 24-29 sound way more closed off and “flat” than other flams in the front half. You also have a tendency to open up flams that occur from an upstroke more than the flams that just preceded them. All that being said, you sound great though dude, for real. Impressive ass hands for never marching anywhere besides your HS. Good luck with your audition!

Keep it up! Just remember you are auditioning for Carolina Crown, you are very intense which is great but don't forget you are going to have to match 8 other snares, be humble and dial it back a bit to prove to the staff that you can play with a line, not just by yourself. Best of luck.

This the first vid of yours that I have came upon idk if you have but I definitely suggest auditioning for at least 5 different corps to higher your chances but also I’m just 14 so idk how much it would higher them
@michaelbecker3779
Жыл бұрын
Yeah so auditions are actually pretty costly when they're all said and done, so in my current situation, auditioning for "at least 5" corps would be quite too many. Plus - many auditions end up falling on the same dates/weekends so it can be a logistical nightmare to go to multiple. I'm definitely focusing on Crown until I hear back so we'll see! Definitely a good thing to go to multiple auditions though!! There's a bunch to learn from many wonderful educators!! Everything everyone tells you can be used in some way!!!
