PERIOD! Yet look at how BEAUTIFUL she looks. I adored her Soooo much. But I often time thought she was very sad and that she was crying out much in her songs and I remember her story some news reporter made a awful comment about he referring to her as your fat chubby little sister rather and from that moment, she thought was fat funny people say that words cannot hurt, but that is not true. Words can kill the spirit - I know because I suffered from words spoken to me as a child. She was a beautiful soul wasn’t.

I loved her from the first time I heard her voice. I just recently lost the love of my life. But we begun on love on this song We Only Just Began. I was 15 and he was 17 . Tony ended up buying me every album She made . I cried when she pasted away. Iam now 68 years old. It’s tears to my eyes when I hear her sing but Then again also joy . yeah absolutely I’ve been married for 32years I was 24 and she was 20. She got cancer in 2020 I was totally lost without her. She took a major hit the treatment was horrible for her. I could do nothing to change any thing so I felt helpless.. I miss her everyday. Mothers are the glue that holds everyone together. seeing this makes me miss her even more I come to this page all the time just to have that nostalgia

Beautiful. A voice that we never see again. She died about one year after I agreed from college. It was 1983 and I remember the sadness as to how she she died. We are very fortunate to still have her beautiful voice to this day.

@@tomtoms15 Her kit got so big that the audience complained that they couldnt see who was singing, Karen balked at the idea of stepping out from behind the drums because she considered drums her main instrument and singing to be just a side thing she did. Finally, because she wanted the best for the band, she agreed to start fronting the band.

When I was 16 I lost my boyfriend to a motorcycle accident and I listened to this song over and over and cried. He was my first live and This song still makes me cry and I'm now 67. You never forget your first love.

I was in Band at Halifax ( Virginia ) County high school. We mastered every song the carpenters released. In the middle of a Christmas parade the band leader call out ( carpenters, I was First trumpet And I started and held one first note and the rest of the band jumped in. Every one In Halifax VA went crazy! What great memories. A great time to grow up. So many great memories

Close to you was the first song I learned to sing . I was 9 yrs old. But remember it like yesterday. Sat on the porch practicing it to perfection. I grew up being a singer . People would ask me if I remember what song was the first I can remember learning. Without hesitation I say Close to you 😊. I loved the emotion in her voice . I find myself some days singing her songs . One song she sang Solitaire makes me cry always 😢. I wish she could of loved herself more . Such a great talent. She will forever be missed .
