Surely carpet is a diffuser not an absorber as it has very little depth and a very distorted surface material 🤔

I use thick carpet tiles on my studio walls it works great

Putting carpet tiles all over the walls will only absorb some high frequencies. Plus carpet tiles aren't built meant to be used for acoustic room treatment. You will be degrading the sound quality of the room using them on the walls!
