I tried this method on my lean-to. The opening was 12' wide x 13' high. I was using canvas not a tarp. While it did roll up the canvas, I had to assist rolling it as it tended to bunch up because it was thicker and heavier. Still a much better system than what I had before. Thanks for the good video.

I just used your design on my shed - I have one suggestion for anyone attempting to do the same. Roll the tarp tightly on the PVC so that when it rests on the floor the tarp is taught - then put in another set of screws. The trick to getting the tarp to roll up tightly, rather than bunch, is that it starts tight. (My local hardware store didn't have heavy duty tarps - that also may have been a problem). Thanks!

You sir are a genius lol. Been trying to think of different affordable ways to close in my carport but not permanently. I do some painting from time to time and need a way to keep the bugs out. But I also want it to be open at times when it's nice outside.

Good video. Thanks, you helped me understand how to set up the pulleys. Other videos on this subject tended to gloss over how they work.

I used a heavy canvas tarp. Very similar to the material Carhartt uses for their work pants. It was durable enough to never give me a problem. I just capped the pvc ends with regular $3 pvc caps and to prevent the door from blowing into the carport I placed a cinder block at the base on each side with enough room for the pipe to slide all the way to the floor.

Great video, Up grades could be some sand in the pipe to help keep it tight and magnetic strips on both sides for a tight seal.

when I attached the canvas tarp to the pvc I started the roll and then screwed it. This forced roll ensures it always spools on to the pvs pipe.

I was careful to attach the canvas square at the base because I was worried about that same thing. So long as you remove all slack from each braided line b4 you roll, it goes up nice and even.

Hey jeff, wondering what kind of tarp you are using and what you installed on the ends of your pvc? Looking to do this soon. i liked your idea of attaching the tarp to the inside, higher up, and then having the rope eyelet on the inside as well. may give this a go

Any hints as to why it rolls? Think it would just gather as it goes up. . .

The tarp looks great. More info about where you purchased the tarp. The ones I find refuse to lie flat and show wrinkles forever.

Nice. Im thinking of making one for my woodshed I just built for my firewood when it rains and snows. I have roof rubber 12X8 for my opening I'm wondering if this will be ok in a system like yours. Question: Does the canvas ever get lope sided when pulling up the door? Thanks Great job.

each side of the roller is balanced by pulling evenly on the two pull ropes. It never goes sideways if you are attentive to this. Cheers
