And in my opinion, when Vince Gill was playing his guitar solo, it was almost like his guitar strings were singing the words. Truly one of my favorite performances of this Hymn. I'm happy you all chose an upload that kept Vince Gill's beautiful guitar solo. There's a popular upload out there where the uploader committed the crime of editing out Vince Gill's guitar solo. Which is crazy to me. And unfortunately some other reactors unknowingly chose that version and missed out on that solo. Vince Gill is an awesome guitar player, but not a lot of people are aware of that. Dire Straights tried to get him to join the band early in his career, but he turned them down to pursue his solo career. He did join the Eagles for a while a few years back.

I watched this show live on TV when it aired. She actually strained her voice on this song because she was in a skit later with several other ladies of country singing Coal Miners Daughter honoring Loretta Lynn . Each one sung a part but Carrie didn’t. She only sang when they all did at the end. She also has this song on an album and has a video but I believe this live version is the best.

Request please-“Hurricane” by Leon Everette-I haven’t seen one reaction to this song and it gets a fair bit of play in my region-US Gulf Coast-this time of year because it’s hurricane season:) I was here for Katrina-watched it from my front porch with my husband. And I was about 6 yo when Camille hit here. So this song is kinda relevant right now:) Also-Vince Gill “When I Call Your Name-angelic voice, heavenly harmonies And since you like storytelling, the story song of all time “Ode To Billy Joe” by Bobble Gentry. It’s a Southern Gothic country classic. And Jefferson Starship “Miracles” -it was mine and my late husband’s song-lost him to cancer 4 years ago after the best 40 years of my life. It’s a beautiful beautiful song to just listen to on the dark with a candle and a glass of wine. Hank Williams Jr-“Outlaw Women”-my husband dedicated this to me when we were dating lol American-“You Can Do Magic” And “Roll Me Away” and “Till It Shines”-Bob Seger (my husband was his doppelgänger only with blue eyes instead of brown)-also Bob Seger was the best concert I ever saw bar none. Also “Romeo’s Tune”-Steve Forbert Anything by Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush The live version of “Boom Boom Out Go The Lights”-Pat Travers-from the album “Go For What You Know” “Martian Boogie”-Brownsville Station Also “Street Life”-The Crusaders featuring Randy Crawford Steely Dan-“Don’t Take Me Alive” and Kid Charlemagne”-two of the best guitar solos you’ll ever hear Donald Fagen (half of Steely Dan) solo album -“The Nightfly” Tom Petty-“Don’t Do Me Like That”, “Refugee” The Knack-“My Sharona” Bobby Caldwell-“What You Won’t Do For Love” Also “No Rain”-Blind Melon-official video version because that video is famous Eryaka Badu-“On And On”-the official video version because it’s great Michael Martin Murphey-“Wildfire”-never fails to make me cry Sorry, I just have so many good memories accompanied by so much superior music from growing up in the Seventies! I really miss deadened drums and ride cymbal lol Speaking of some great ride cymbal-“Cocaine”-Eric Clapton-the studio version please! Anything from Little Feat’s “Waiting For Colombus” album-all virtuoso musicians, big band rock, boogie, and more-very esoteric lyrically but not cryptic-love it all, especially “Spanish Moon” and “Mercenary Territory”. Y’all should watch the movie “Dazed And Confused”, very close to how my school years were, only Gulf Coast style instead of Texas-oh my stars, the weekends at the river-bonfires, staying up all night, sleeping on the sand, drinking beer, passing the joint, living in your swimsuit and shorts, swinging off the rope and diving in-good times:) Oh the stories I could tell LOL Thanks!

Carrie really captured the heartfelt emotion of that gratitude, imo. This makes me think of another lovely hymn that Sissel captured perfectly. It was a performance of Slow Down with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir that resulted in a thundering and prolonged standing ovation at the end (according to the participants - the video fades out before the applause ends).
