guilty. I bought one off ebay recently and it had this exact same issue, the gap was like 1/2". I installed it anyhow as a temporary band aid while I ordered up the bearings to rebuild my OEM one. NEVER AGAIN

all i have is a lowly yamaha blaster, i love to ride trails on it and the low ground clearance and god awful stock shocks for my 200lb ass make it a .........rough ride, sometimes. i am enjoying watching your videos, its giving me a better understanding of how these quads are put together. coming from a car/light truck line of work, i too, giggle at the bad workmanship and terrible parts slapped onto machines that end up in your shop with a problem. who would've thought that used, green crusty alternator with only 1 mounting bolt installed would fail 1 month later?

I got the Chinese carrier and I was happy to find that the crush tube had a tight fit.

This makes be feel better about ordering one from lonestar, I almost went tusk because it was 1/3 the price. This is good information thanks!

I think the Tusk is fine, I just got one and it was all tight inside. There's other ones on Ebay and Amazon that are half the price as Tusk which are probably the problem ones.

If ur bearing blows apart and the race is still in the carrier u can run a bead of weld on the race and it will come out

So if I get a aftermarket carrier because the oem ones are on back order ,to make a aftermarket carrier more reliable change out the center tube with the stock one?

I have a 2005 400ex. I replaced my carrier with one of these cheap carriers. Its already trashed. It kept doing what you said, it was like the axle nut kept getting loose and the axle would be loose in the carrier again, tighten up and after 1 ride same deal. My question is, with a factory OEM carrier, or quality aftermarket like Lonestar, should you be able to tighten the axle nut really tight and the axle still rotate in the carrier? Because after I put that cheap one in there if I tightened the axle nut very tight it would lock up the axle and it would not spin in the carrier.

@@MrCuervoRacing Ok thank you. I got another one, seems to be better made and the center spacer seems to be tight againt the bearings on both ends so I will install it tomorrow and see what happens.

I had one of those aftermarket carriers I bought off eBay cheap. It was so bad when you would tighten the axle nut to factory spec it would begin to jam up and seize in the carrier.

Hey, I bought one from "East Lake Axle", on eBay, it came bearings and tube included aswel as pre assembled . It was about half the price as stock, it's supposed to be manufactured in the US but maybe they could be disingenuous, I'm hoping for the best on this one as it is for my fathers machine and I don't want to disappoint. I liked the fact that there is a grease nipple on the aftermarket but have not torqued it down to see if there is compliance between the tube and bearings. Also maybe a video on how to get that outer race removed aswel that one you had in this video would be perfect as this is a problem for many, if your late on carrier bearing replacement it just loves to blow out that inner and with the seat on the outer race it seems impossible to pull. love the vids thanks.

i don't spend the labor time to remove the outer race after they come apart like that and just replace the carrier, the only way to do it would be HEAT,
