In my personal opinion, 2 bobbles in 1k rounds isn’t a huge deal. Might be worth taking out your firing pin, checking to see if it’s gummed up or dirty, but for the most part, I’d keep rocking through them.

All handguns have the potential to fail and should be put to the test before they are used for carry. In your case since it has an aftermarket trigger I might have a bit more reservation even though Apex does have a good reputation. That's one of the reasons I've decided to keep all my internals stock so that at least I know if it fails it's nothing that I did or changed. In the end it is up the user if they are confident in their gun then by all means carry on. If doubt starts to creep in then it might be time for a change.

I’ve herd Winchester white box rounds have harder primers than other brands. Out of all my guns throughout the years I’ve only had 1 malfunction and it was when shooting my HK VP40 with Winchester white box 180 gn. A click and no bang. Picked up round and it did have a strick dent on the primer. Loaded it back up and it did fire the second time. Now all I buy is Federal red and black box and Sig’s ammo. I actually get the tightest groups with Sig ammo.

Light primer strikes are often the ammo's fault where a cheap primer gets made just a little too hard... I've had it happen with winchester primers that i used in reloading...

In this case I would completely blame the ammo. I have the exact same carry gun as you do. Over 14,000 rounds through mine with no changes whatsoever. Same Springs, same everything. NEVER a malfunction whatsoever. I have to purposely put snap caps in my magazines to train for failures. That said, all guns wear down and I'm sure this one will as well. I am expecting at some point it will start to show signs that things need to be replaced. Maybe a recoil spring or a trigger reset spring, who knows. I love the gun so much however, I bought 2 so I have a backup. Having experienced this level of reliability, my standard is now set at that level. Anything less and I wouldn't be able to accept it. I have Trijicon XD XR orange sights on mine and that is a different matter altogether. Every five thousand or so rounds I have had to send the sights back to Trijicon for them to replace them with new ones. I love the sights for carrying. It's just that in regards to the front sight, from getting the gun hot so many times and the force of recoil, eventually the front sight breaks down. This last time the thin film that covers the orange paint and keeps the tritium inside just popped off and took the paint with it. Only the tritium vial was left. That was around the 5k round mark as well. Somehow I don't think this is isolated to just Trijicons product. I think any similarly designed sight would have a shelf life just the same. The important thing is that Trijicon has always honored their warranty and despite the front sight having a shelf life, I love the design of what they are intended for. Great channel Nolan. You're the man.

I like that I shoot with no problems with the Glock 43. No flaws, I shoot Winchester white box most of the times at the range. Easy light concealment made for EDC for defense. Anything bigger is not a concealment gun on me. Know what you want it for and stop changing it.

Another good example of why I carry my CZ P07 tactical. The hammer fired guns give you another chance to ignite that primer rather than having to eject the unfired round. Chances are good that when you need it your gun will work as intended as long as you do your part(good ammo, quality gun, well maintained) but it’s a little extra insurance.

There's always the possibility for a failure. Knowing how to remedy said failure is paramount. I believe the issues you are experiencing are ammo related not gun related. Carry options for myself are Glock. I do however believe that CZ, SMITH, HK make fine options as well. budget options I have experience with is the Canil TP9SF Elite. It is a solid shooter.

Every firearm can go wrong. Not all ammo is good as noted. I believe some manufacturers do not have consistent depths of their primers. Why?, one might asked. It’s not the first brand of firearm nor brand of ammunition I’ve seen this with. One thing that can be a problem too is dry firing the pin or the spring system in the trigger assembly. Through my career in the US Army taking a firearm completely apart when drawing / signing for it out of the arms room before training or qualifying helped ID the issues before use in some cases. A well maintained firearm is a well lived Soldier. I’ll accept a malfunction if it can be addressed immediately as in your case- next round, but if a repetition occurs I’ll attempt to switch ammo. If it still occurs a breakdown and examination / cleaning / functions check while at the range then attempt with follow on fire. If it’s still occurring, go to a backup until every component is assessed. This is why a back up firearm isn’t a bad option. Sometimes it just happens and it shouldn’t be a situation where one can’t defend. Good luck to all out there.

I hear you Nolan . My HK VP9 LE Use to be my night stand gun and then had a couple of double feeds . I lost my confidence in the gun and switch to my M&P 2.0 full size for my night stand gun . I have kept it stock other than changing the sights to the TFX PRO sights. I want to put the Apex Flat trigger in but am worried it might change the reliability of the gun . I have about three thousand flawless rounds of everything through it and don't even clean it that much .

I have never had a problem with any of my P320’s, my VP9 or my M&P 9 v.1.3. Had some trouble with both my Kahr’s in the first 80 or so rounds but they’ve been perfect since. I’d feel good carrying any of these but the P320 SC and the Kahr’s are the only ones I do carry, due to more convenient size. My M&P 2.0 Compact has a very small sample size to draw a conclusion from, so far, but it’s been 100% good with ball ammo. It’s a little different with my practice load Missouri Bullet 124 gr. Tek coated TC bullets. All the other pistols shoot this load just fine (yes, I tried a mag full in the HK after the M&P 2.0 problem was discovered and Armageddon did not ensue). Many times the round will get hung up on the feed ramp and I can see there is a spot where a sharp edge or burr is cutting into the bullet. It’s something that may never effect the harder ball ammo or my Sig 124 gr. HP’s but it is something I’d like to clear up before I trust it completely. I’m sure I’ll get it cleared up and can’t wait to do so. No light strikes yet but that’s something I’ll watch for. That Apex flatty trigger kit makes this one stand out above all others... most of the time. Thanks, Nolan, your install video was the first I saw on it. Great stuff!

Train to deal with a malfunction. Every firearm has the potential to fail whether it's the ammo (out of spec, hard primer etc), needs cleaning, or shooter issue (limp wristing, stovepipe). Hopefully, any issue you encounter you can overcome with good training and a quality fiream. Thanks for sharing

I have thousands of rounds thru multiple different Glocks. I only ever had one light primer strike in all. And it was with WWB. NATO primers are even harder then the regular WWB from my knowledge. I don’t know if that Apex trigger kit came with different striker springs, but if you installed a lighter one then factory, I wouldn’t worry to much about the light strike. That being said tho, if I was carrying that gun, I would certainly put the factory striker spring back in the gun.

Well, I use an LCP 2 when I need to be super stealthy, but it does FTE when it gets warm - which takes more than 7 rounds anyway. I need to get another one or a replacement, but it's awfully nice. It's not a perfect situation, but until I find a more reliable firearm that's the same pocketable size w/ at least 5 rounds, it'll remain my stealth pistol. It's better than any other alternative. For home, car or it doesn't matter, I can have my PPQ, which is more than reliable enough for my needs.

I have bought several micro, or pocket .380's in the past. None of them have been 100% with various ammo. Some have been 100% with limited carry ammo. I can't afford 100's of those to shoot. I've had some compact 9's, like CZ, Sig, etc that have been 100% but I have never put more than 2000 rounds through them. I just need to shoot it enough with various ammo to get "confident" in it. I figure the odds I will need it is very slim, so I will just have to trust it even though any gun can fail.

If you shoot and train hard...guns will malf. Range target shooting, but not getting it truly hot...you may never see issues or minimal issues. All guns will choke at some point. Shooter induced malf happen, ammo related happen and parts do break. I do not worry. Complete disassembly, clean it, lube it...use it. Be safe. Last thing...The more non factory parts...typically cause issues. Glocks are not glocks with silly triggers, barrels, etc...

I won't carry a gun that hasn't been 100% reliable. That being said, if it issues like it seems you S&W 2.0 had, that doesn't necessarily disqualify it. If the issue is obviously ammo related that's a different issue. With proper maintenance a pistol, especially your edc, should be flawless. Also, as others have stated, my carry guns have 100% stock internals... I may upgrade sights or, on my 1911s, the grip panels but that's about it.

If it gives you peace of mind, change ammo and run 500+ rounds of it to see if you get another malfunction. If you don't then it was probably a bad round before. If you do get another malfunction you might consider not carrying that gun until you can figure out the problem. What is the magic number of malfunctions per 1,000 rounds that is acceptable? If you have ten malfunctions then that is a 1% fail rate. I could live with a 0.5% fail rate personally (5 rds in 1,000). I carry a G19 in which I've put 2,600 rounds through it with zero malfunctions, so life is good. But it is a mechanical device made by imperfect people, so it will fail at some point.

While I see some sing the praises of Ruger and still own the SR9, my - always clean - daily carry SR9C went 'click'and shut down totally one day about a year ago. Disappointed and pissed me off, and scared the wife so much, we said f--- it.......immediately switched to the 🌎 worldwide leader. Can't have Ruger letting either or both of us die in a defensive situation. So this family 👪 draws the line at Glock. Flawless, never failed reliability, from our EDC 19, 26, or 43 is our experience...plus, soon to add a 30SF .45 ACP to the fam. They even eat Winchester white box 115/124 Gr. Ball and 147 Gr. Hollowpoint like candy. Of course, the Mossberg 500 and the time tested AR15 platform also defend that line, but no pistol is MORE, I say again - MORE! - reliability than a Glock. We are all free to choose what manufacturer(s) we trust, but Mr. Glock's workmanship & products offer - thru their proven track record since 1982 - the LEAST likelihood of getting shot due to your own weapon not going BANG! (Ask most local, Federal, and State law enforcement agencies...who need their sh-- to work every time.) Most reliable are Glocks, whether the Glock-haters like it or not.😠
