On lap 2 of qualifying, I let my friend in a 991.2 Cup take the lead so I can go for a flying lap and attempt to draft him, as he hadn't driven the track and was learning it on the fly. I figured he'd crush me in the straights but I could hang with him in the braking zones and corner entry as he didn't yet know the track. It worked, sort of. I was on pace for a 2:19 lap, comfortably, but around turn 13 we saw a cloud of dust and knew at least one car had gone off. The yellow flag was thrown, and we slowed down to gently run over all the dirt on the track in the trickiest, highest-consequence section of track, killing both of our laps. Fortunately, all 3 cars that went off were OK with no injuries, no damage, with only a dirty track to show for the excitement. You can see what a 991.1 Cup Car looks like compared to a 2020 Porsche GT4 Clubsport.
