Thank you for covering Wentz! Now fans of other teams have some evidence of why us Eagles fans love him as the franchise QB. Whether Philly continues its success this season or not, Wentz has clearly shown a huge jump in confidence and ability from his rookie year. Great breakdown, as usual.

He never fell off a cliff. The Eagles consistently lost close games, our defense was never coming up big like it was now, and the offense had no key playmakers Wentz would be able to consistently trust - Wentz did not fall off.

Yup, we went like 1-6 in games decided by 7 points or less last year. Sure you can look at that statistic and say Wentz didn't do enough; or you can look around at the team and his lack of playmakers, good coaching, and mediocre defense that couldn't do enough to help him. I'm tired of hearing about "how much better Wentz is this year from last year" when really, we finally got a good team that can help him compete; we brought in players that fit our scheme and our culture and Wentz can trust in tough moments. That's the biggest difference between this year and last; not some huge improvements that only wentz made, huge improvements across the whole team in general.

Davis r: He never fell off a cliff: Let's take a look at the Eagles last 2 years loses: Detroit game (week 5) Wentz throws 3 passes to the end zone that are catchable but dropped 2 to DGB and 1 to Agholor the eagles lose 24-23. The Redskins (week 6) 27-20 it was Halaapoulivati Vaitai first game and even though the score shows a close game it wasn't the Redskins destroyed the Eagles. The Cowboys game (week 8) the Eagles had a 3rd and 3 at 6 yard line Wentz throws a perfect pass to Agholor had he catched it the Eagles he would have probably scored a Touchdown that would have put the game out of reach for the Cowboys the game ended in OT 29-23. The game against the Giants (week 9) the Eagles lost 28-23, the Eagles had 2 4th and short they didn't have a bruiser they didn't have Lane Johnson and they failed to score a TD on 4th and 10 because Jordan Matthews ran his route inside when he should have gone outside because the safety was inside. The Seahawks game (week 11) 26-15 Wentz threw a TD pass to Zach Ertz but it was nullified because Agholor lined up badly, then Wentz threw a perfect pass to Agholor which could have gone all the way for a TD but he dropped it. GB (week 12) the Eagles lost 27-13, it was because of the Eagles D though they could not stop Rodgers even if their life had depended on it. Bengals (week 13) a lot of injuries the Eagles got destoyed 32 to 14 but it was because they had a lot of injuries. Redskins (week 14) 27-22 Wentz throws a perfect pass to Matthews he catched but he did a giant leap out of bounds instead of driving his foot in. Ravens (week 15) 27-26 the Eagles went for 2 after scoring their last TD and failed had they won other games they would have kicked the PAT instead. This season against the best team in the NFL Wentz threw a perfect pass to Torrey Smith in the end zone which he dropped and Elliott missed a FG before Half Time had they had those 10 points the Eagles would have beaten the best team in the NFL. To be fair Wentz missed 2 TDs to Torrey Smith this year and Agholor is playing lights out so far this season. If the receivers had catched the ball, Wentz would have taken a 7-9 team to a 13-3 team and he would be undefeated this season (19-3). Again it's no excuse, it's just putting the blame where blame is due. Wentz wasn't guilty of those loses his receivers and his CBs (who sucked last year) were.

Well they have two games where the refs kinda screwed them over. Honestly the cards just haven't went their way so far, when the refs are calling a good game they commit a dumb penalty, or a drop pass on third down.. They just need to put together good football for four quarters. But regardless a film studie on them would be entertaining!

Love the videos, Brett! I was wondering if you'd consider doing a series of videos breaking down some of the more basic concepts in football? Your videos are outstanding, but for a more casual fan who couldn't tell you the difference between a tampa two and a cover one, or who doesn't understand how a read-option works, some quick, short 3-4 minute videos breaking things like that down would be an amazing resource. Cheers! PS Any chance you'd be willing to do a video on the mechanical regression in Joe "Cash Money" Flacco? I've been a Ravens fan his whole career, and he's looked like a completely different quarterback since his ACL tear. Mechanics look off, and his pocket presence has completely disappeared. I feel like people take the impact injuries have on athletes for granted, and a video demonstrating how a serious injury can turn a solid-if-underwhelming starter into a flat-out bad player would be a great illustration of how much damage they can do.

chuck430 a combo of all of those things. Last year Carson was not this good. The improvement was immediately noticeable. His throwing motion is a bit better. Last year he was dropping his elbow. Not as bad as Tebow would, but enough that his throws took longer and would be more wobbly and inconsistent. He also would stare receivers down a bit more. And his ability to read a defense this year compared to last year has been a huge improvement and will probably only get better as he sees more. The Oline is pretty much the same, other than Lane Johnson not being suspended for 10 games. Kelce has been playing like he played in his best seasons at center. I don't think anything has changed on the line except that Carson (and Douggie P) helps them as much as they help him. Doug's play calling is smart and methodical and sometimes ballsy. His receivers have been a huge upgrade. Last year was drop after drop after drop. Agholor had been markedly improved this year! And Ertz finally has the same QB for 2 seasons in a row for the first time in his career. The addition of Alshon keeps corners more honest, though his numbers might not be as good as we'd hoped, they will come. And Torrey Smith is a nice addition. Don't forget about the defense. Their DL might be the best in football. Watch a game and see how almost every play they're pushing the line of scrimmage back 3-5 yards almost every play. Graham, Cox, and Jerrnigan are absolute monsters. Their corners are better because their DL is so disruptive. And when Darby and Sidney Jones return from injuries, they're just going to get better too. And let's not forget chemistry, which I firmly believe all starts with Carson. As an Eagles fan we hear how the team talks about him. Everyone loves him on this team. Offense, defense, special teams, and coaches. And yet, he's so humble he's always passing off the praise to everyone else. The chemistry is palpable on this team. I mean, what receiver runs over and gives the TD ball to the center so he can spike it? They're clicking on all cylinders and I honestly believe it's all because of Wentz and Pederson.
@adembroski
7 жыл бұрын
He had several mechanical flaws coming out. Stiff front leg which caused a lot of overthrows, the elbow you mentioned. What I like about him is he's always humble enough to acknowledge his flaws and hard working enough to fix them. He can even be better. His footwork isn't great yet. Look at the Trubisky kid in Chicago, those are the feet of an artist, and compare. When Wentz masters that, he'll have a chance to be the best in the NFL. PS: Looking at his motion, he has that ball drop that most QBs do. It's good tech, but if you look where his elbow is, look how the ball comes out. He could probably cut that and throw with a more Romo/Marino like motion by bringing the ball straight back and firing out from his shoulder. He already almost has that motion. Imagine if he cut his release time in half.

The Jags invested a lot of money in free agency and draft picks to improve their defense. The results weren't there to show for it, but now with a different coaching structure the results are showing up. The Jags defense this year lead the NFL in sacks, turnover differential, and gave Joe Flacco and Ben Roethisberger the worst games of their careers.

Can you do a new video for his 2019 season maybe after a few more games? I'd really more appreciate your opinions on Wemtz after injuries than a bunch of comment trolls.

Not what they want to hear, but it's the truth. Carson has been marvelous. I thank God he's an eagle. I told people there wasn't a QB in the league id take over him last year and i honestly meant it. He's showing why right now. His ceiling is so high.

PeeyanoKeys that took quite the effort on Doug's part to coach up/tailor the offense to Nicks ability. Looking at his debut and other games in the regular season vs the postseason, the difference was night and day

Beans Theorem its so fucking painful to watch, Rodgers always makes something out of nothing. It’s almost like he’s every single player on the field at once. Being a Bears fan for the last 10 years has shown me that.

I still have Kareem Hunt as the MVP right now though I know it's turned into a QB only award. Not only is he a great dual threat who could probably convert to tight end, but his running can actually grind defenses down. Guys like Bell can get yards, but the defense is coming at him in the fourth quarter as hard as they did in the first. Hunt is on pace for over 1,400 rushing yards, the most in the league, and over 2,000 scrimmage yards. I usually don't even peg dual threats as a top 5 running back, but Hunt has put up the numbers and performance needed to win MVP.

QB is a more valuable position than RB.... Any one can run the ball, not everyone can throw, run, read Def. and lead an entire team
