My introduction to Carter was when my friend bought some CD of some band but the wrong CD was in the case. He got the Sheriff Fatman CD single by mistake and the rest is history. Got to see them live through the 90s and flew from Ireland to the final show in Brixton. Amazing

I was born in 72 & there was so much going on from about 88 to 96 it was truly magical. The early 90's were really an exceptionally special time in musical history and I feel absolutely blessed to have been part of it all, and I partied like there was no tomorrow :-)

Yeah, had the same intentions, however nothing was going to stop me from losing the plot, my sanity and most of my long and short term memories of the next 25 years out of my head! The 90s was a proper sketchy time! The kids nowadays have no idea how different it is compared to back then. And the music now, compared to then, is terrible!! Obviously, that's why we're here listening to Carter! 30 years on and Carter are still Numbah One!! Haha. Did you hear any of Jimbobs solo stuff? Dudes got some serious talent man. As a writer, he second to none.

Did the Rolling Stones try to sue Carter for the Ruby Tuesday lyric? But like they shafted the Verve for Bitter Sweet Symphony . . . .
@readysetsleep
3 жыл бұрын
Here you go... The band’s single “After The Watershed (Early Learning The Hard Way),” a song about child abuse, was pulled off the airwaves after the Rolling Stones slapped an injunction on the tune for using lyrics from the Stone’s song, “Goodbye Ruby Tuesday.” Later, Carter USM reached a settlement with the Stones and now credit the song to Morrison, Carter, Jagger, Richards, and Bet Lynch. www.encyclopedia.com/education/news-wires-white-papers-and-books/carter-usm

He was a punchline even back then - went on Terry Wogan’s chat show claiming he was Jesus (or thereabouts) after a career which up to that point consisted of presenting the snooker and being a reserve goalkeeper for Coventry. As you do.
