When you watch this, and then watch 2005's "Into Great Silence", or vice versa, the most satisfying thing is that nothing is different but the film quality. The exact same life; same one they were doing 100, 200, and now almost 1000 years ago. I pray that it's the same 1000 years from now.

They get fast extinct. Nobody wants to live like that nowadays. So they die out. End of story wich is not so romantic.

The Carthusians were founded after Bruno went to the funeral of Raymond Diocres in Paris (1084). Diocres rose from his casket and proclaimed that he was judged and found wanting. This so made an impression on Bruno he left the world. Makes one think what was so distressing that it prompts another to make such a drastic change. The paintings commemorating the event are hanging in the Louvre. They were moved there from the charterhouse in Paris during the French Revolution.

2:39 Confieso que lo primero que pensé fue "¿por qué no se ponen algo que no sea blanco para trabajar en el huerto?". Ahora entiendo por qué es negro el hábito de los benedictinos... ¡Ora et labora!
