Great video, congratulations on the watch, I was lucky enough to pick up a full gold 2960 at the beginning on the month, in crispy condition. These little watches are a hidden gem for price!

Sure, we all want our watches to look brand new but polishing the Carree doesn't make it look new but just polished. The factory brushing done by Cartier has a unique industral roughness that is almost impossible to restore properly. Becasue right now your Carree is finished like a smooth Galbée. The drama of the Carree charme is missing. Christian from the Theo and Harris KZitem channel made a good point about it when he presented his "Or Massif". Still a great watch though enjoy.

Do you know the main distinguishing features between the Carree and the Galbee? Trying to find more information on these watches. I would also appreciate any resources you can link me to.

@@1trife90 The main distinguishing feature is that the Carree has a flat surface, while the Galbee is all the way curved, also the date on the Carree is at 3, while it is at 6 o clock on the Galbee. The Carree is automatic, while the Galbee is mostly Quartz. The Galbee is more streamline in a sense, while the Carree is very rough industrial. Here: /watch?v=C4K8Z0bNA2M /watch?v=yQkqGlO7Ei4&t=839s

Hey cool video :) since i assume that you have read the book - is there anything in it up to which year cartier used real sapphires in the reference 2961 and not synthetic ones? I own a Cartier Santos 2961 in which the sapphire is rather green or a very strong dark blue instead of the usual blue of the synthetic sapphires. unfortunately, there is almost no information on the internet about when real sapphires were used.

I have the Or Massif $2960 and I love mine. I have a question regarding the crown spinel. My question is if the sapphire cabochon an actual sapphire? Wonderful video - thank you.

On previous metal watches such as gold it is a real cabochon. On steel models it is a synthetic stone.

I have a watch that belonged to my mother that she bought in 1983 and it looks very similar to this one, if it's not too much trouble I'd love your opinion, could I kindly show you some photos?

Ive seen some name it as massif while others as career. Are they the same?

Or massif means block of gold. It's a nickname. Santos Carree is the official name.
