Fangface was a weird werewolf, but that's the idea when you have a comical sidekick. I also know what you mean about Pugsy. I wondered where he got his slang too. He kind of reminds me of a teen from New York during the 30s or 40s. There was another wacky werewolf from another cartoon called, "Drac Pack." Three teenaged boys who were comical, superhero versions of Dracula, Frankenstein, and Wolfman. In that show, the wolf kid had super-breath power like the wolf from the three pigs.
@zazelby

Puggsy was based on a movie character - Slip Mahoney, played by Leo Gorcey - from the Bowery Boys films of the 1940s and 1950s, yeah. (Fangs was based on his sidekick from the same movie series) I loved Drak Pack at the time. They were supposed to be the descendents of Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, and the Wolfman, with Dracula himself as their "mission control". Drak only had shapeshifting powers (but had no weakness to sunlight), while Frankie had super-strength and got stronger when he got angry (you wouldn't like him when he's angry) or when he sneezed (you wouldn't like him when he's sneezy). Howler had super-breath or, in earlier episodes, a supersonic howl that could shatter glass.

Fangface was around for a while when I was a kid. It was one of those cartoons where you didn’t go out of your way to watch it every week and not miss an episode, but rather if you were surfing channels and nothing else was on, you watched and it killed time. Like what someone else stated....it was watchable and I didn’t hate it, but if something else good was on instead, I’d change the channel. It still shows up on cable here and there and serves the same purpose. It was a basic Saturday morning cartoon, nothing more nothing less. Now Rickety Rocket....even as a 3rd grader, I found that show to be awful. But if you truly want to discuss an absolutely horrific Saturday Morning cartoon.....I dare you to watch “Little Clowns of Happytown”....and I challenge you to sit through an entire episode!

"It's as if the biggest terror for cartoon writers in the 70's was a strong, independent woman" That would explain a lot. I liked the Josie and the Pussycats cartoon growing up (and props for Valerie, the first woman of color to be a cartoon heroine), but Alexandra was the b***h character. But looking back, Alexandra was the one who didn't take BS. If the Josie cartoon was being made today (likely with better animation), Alexandra would be an anti heroine. As for the "Ooh Ooh!", you mentioned Botch from "Help! It's the Hair Bear Bunch" (not to mention Sgt. Flint from "Hong Kong Phooey"). But those characters were modeled after Officer Muldoon (Joe E. Ross) from the 60's cartoon "Car 54, Where Are You?"

Admit it, you don't care for Fangface. You've been bad-moutheding the show the whole time saying how idiotic and lame it was, well what can I tell you, the '70s were a different time. I myself loved the first season of Fangface, they did however screw it up when they introduced Fangpuss. But if you want to talk about crappy cartoons how about you do something about another Ruby Spears show called, "rickety rockets." It was another type of Josie and the pussycats cartoon that took place in a futuristic time where there were four black teenagers that had a living and crappy looking flying car that was called rickety rockets. That show was so awful it was taken off the air within a few months after it came out.

I watched the plastic Man show when it first aired too. I'm not exactly a high School freshman either. Rickety rockets did make a reappearance in the plastic Man show when it was done on weekday afternoons, but he did not last terribly long in the Saturday morning version. I know because I've seen it how after all the toons have been introduced they did their own little parade of the characters. First was plastic Man, then Penny, hula hula, rickety and his four friends, mighty Man and yuck and lastly fang face with fang puss and then fangs and baby fangs. But then before long they got rid of rickety in the parade as well as the show and replaced them with pugsy Kim and Biff and then it went along like the rest. Rickety rockets was kind of racist. The four kids looked like they lived in a ghetto type neighborhood of the time. They weren't very classy and rickety himself looked like some ancient vehicle that was being taken apart. It didn't make black people look good.
@ArtificialOrangeStudios
3 жыл бұрын
@@theamericanshepherd4304 Yeah, Rickety was made out of garbage and yeah, it was very racist. I think Ruby Spear's idea with that show was to try and ripoff Fat Albert but mix it with sci fi and Josie elements. Their base being in a garbage dump even.
