@@kolewiebensohn Thank you. I've heard glow plugs in a can. What is interesting is I had my tonsils out when I was four years old, and they used ether to put me under (I'm old). Every time I used ether to start the tractor, it brought back the memory of ether being used to put me out. The smell of ether is the last thing I remember before I went out.

I've started many older tractors and starting fluid is usually unnecessary, you can turn the engine over until you see smoke which means you have fuel in the cylinders and then you stop for a few seconds and allow the fuels to warm since it's in the cylinders under pressure which is how diesel fuel is turned to vapor then start the engine again.

That would be the case with normal tractors, but the case 30 series have a different style head where the firing chamber is in the head not in the cylinders

@@kolewiebensohn Yes, sold several in my day, when we had a Case dealership, also own a few, and basically grew up around them. Yes, some can be stubborn. One more thing. Your valves would like you better if you had a muffler on her for back pressure for them fyi. Nice tractor good post

@@dansengines2594 The straight pipe adds a lot of character I think. She sounds really good and it's never overheated on me yet! But it ain't my big tractor so that the 3294s problem lol

Thanks, she's a 1967 we bought out of Gary Indiana and had shipped all the way too iowa, also I have my grandpa's 1963 730 case gas that we repainted but it's having carb issues, this winter I'm getting my great grandpas john deere A to get running then next will be grandpa's 4020 jd to clean up

If you spray either in the dust bowl it will crumble. And its a bitch getting a new one because you gotta cut one down to make it fit. Go ahead, ask me how i know lol

I ain't ever seen ether make one fall apart. I actually just put a new bowl on it, I ordered it from all states ag parts and it fit perfectly.

@@kolewiebensohn lol yeah an it sucks lol. It turns all cloudy like, an then when you go to empty it your finger will go through it lol. There's a rubber connector at the bottom of the intake, an we drilled a hole in it an stuffed a 3/8 bolt in there so you can give it some while your cranking. But be careful if you do because you only want a tiny tiny wif, because now the either is much more dense because it's so close to the heads and it doesn't have to go through the oil bath. But yeah not kidding it totally trashes the dust bowl. It literally will turn the plastic into powder over time. Quite depressing lol... But just out of curiosity have you ever had the bowl off while it's running? That bugger sucks some serious air!!!! Lol... It's cool lol

@@kolewiebensohn and that's cool they make one that fits. At the time we replaced ours valuebuilt was big at the time. And they didn't have the right one. But now that i know it's a perfect fit i might replace it again! It's about time again

That engine is worn out, rings are no good, valves maybe leaking, mine fires up instantly in zero weather sitting outside, little or no ether needed, when compression is low she's a hard starter. Do a ring job, a valve job, she'll run like new again.

I've been around 30 series my whole life and they all start like this if their diesels. The neighbor is a old Case mechanic and he farms with 30 and 70 series and his 30 series all start like my 930 does.

Why not use the normal heater? Ether is not good for those diesel engines, if not just get a tank heater 🤦♂️

Well I like to use block heater but this thing had to be running due to some issues that arose that particular day that I did not expect so it was needed in short notice. I do prefer to plug it in though when I know it's going to be needed.

Junk, can get them but the wiring to that is shot, need to get it replaced someday but it's mainly just a spring and summer tractor now. Have easier starting tractors for any winter work if needed. Should just 504 swap it and be done.

@@kolewiebensohn2 things the 930 would self destruct with a 504 in it, and the the wiring and solenoid to run the preheated wouldn't cost $50. The engine is a precup, just like the 7.3 idi, by design they won't start with out a heater, it's the nature of the fuel cell

@@kolewiebensohn If anything a 970 engine would be better the 30 series weren't all that tough. Had them, and 70 and 90 and 2 94.Decent tractors but ..... Lol

@@RJ1999x Idk For what it does a big motor wouldn't hurt. My neighbor is a good ol case mechanic and has a 150 horse 1030 with a 504 he runs on a 24ft field finisher, he out hydraulic steering on it and rigged up hydraulic brakes from a 70 series on it. I like my cases since we've been case forever with a few deeres mainly 20 series.
