Unless there was a change from an early to a late model 2388 someone has added those two center support brackets to keep it from dropping down and taking out the valve stem when it breaks. Never had to take the the tires off of the 2388 or 2588 to replace one. Easy job in the field with an impact the right size to fit on the nut. Torque spec is 3 ugga-luggas if I recall correctly

Great video Brandon, that’s crazy how much a new rod cost from the dealer!!

that was interesting, but you would think that a “shop manual “ would explain items completely not to leave anything to chance. like “how many foot pounds is tight” ? probably the force of 270 to lock it in place. so it does not have the opportunity to loosen up. great video, thanks for sharing your time.

If you have to use ancrowsfoot to torque a fastener, always position the foot 90degrees to the wrench. If it is in front of the wrench the applied torque is increased because of the added lenghth. There is a formula you can do to correct the applied torque but it's easier to install the foot to the side.

We broke are tension rode this fall. $85 piece of 1.75” DOM, multiple slug welds and good to go. Did it in field, without removing the wheel set. The welding happed at the shop.

Why not just go to a machine shop in your area and have them order that size bar stock and have them put turn threads on the ends. Turn threads is very simple with the right equipment.

If you use just any old type of steel, it might break again fairly soon. Different types of steel have different strengths.
