Isn't it 40% with the three across? You have a 6,8 and there are 10 remaining 3 across cards (assuming no opponent removal). So you're really 40% not 33%. Also if you know the suit, then you can use conditional probability to get even closer (e.g. you have 6h8h, then drawing a 3 across heart is 100% a 7h). The theory you're describing still works, just clarifying the math. Please let me know if I'm thinking about it wrong.

I don't get it, why not just look at the card then decide
@christopherebsch3766
2 жыл бұрын
@@jambojack A lot of times the optimal strategy is a mixed strategy. This means that in a given situation you want to bet sometimes and check sometimes. Thus, a really good way to randomize that appropriately is to not actually know fully what the card is. If you know the card, then you become more emotionally invested in the decision. Furthermore, the 3 liners that don't make your hand are really good bluff cards because they have removal.

If you already have a 6 or 7 and you catch a "3 across", it is NOT a 67% chance that you paired your card. Assuming all cards are live there are (4) 8's, (3) 7's and (3) 6's. So 6/10 or 60% it pairs your card. Also I would think that when a player enters a hand that they are weighted towards holding 6's & 7's, which would probably put you at something less than that if you hold those as well.

I’m sure I’m not the first to point this out and I don’t want to sound like the troll but as I know you are a feel player and also study your math it is not 67% as you are taking 1 or 2 of the cards out so in a 3 across when you are holding a 7 and 8 it would be 6/10 (3x7, 3x8 and 4x6). Slightly better odds then you thought. Much love from a Canadian Fan. I come for the poker and stay for the fantasy hockey review. Go Flames Go.

@CertifiedSlamboy

My understanding of it would be that his opponents could adjust to it, but it depends if he's overbetting in other spots too. If it's as simple as "i only overbet with a 3 across" then they'll just adjust to that and exploit. But it's almost certainly not the only time he's doing it and he's balancing these by doing it with the nutted hands too.

Hopefully you don't take this as an sarcastic comment... But I took a bit to think about what you said about the 678 you might draw. And I know it's being super stubborn... but 67 is a bit higher than 60%. There are three 6s, three 7s, and four 8s since u dont have one. So you have roughly 40% to hit your card instead of 33%. Depending on dead cards in whatever game.
@dnegspoker
