Back in October I was able to get to a music shop and compared the Casio SX-1000 with similarly priced Roland and Yamaha models. The sophistication of the Casio’s sound struck me right away. It’s very nuanced. I liked the Yamaha sound too - it’s rich but it’s also kind of obvious. I plumped for the Casio in the end and have not regretted it for a moment. I don’t miss a screen or buttons because I have my iPad on the music stand with the Casio app on it which acts as a screen and switcher for the sounds.

I'm impressed with these new Casio models. Presently play Pianoteq Pro voices driven by a Casio PX-150. That said, I have an order in for a Yamaha DGX-670, mostly for the auto accompaniment features.

I have the CDP-S350 and it sounds about equal with all the same features (sound bank, rhythms, accompaniment, 88 keys), the only real difference is the audio outputs and maybe the speakers? Oh and it doesn't have bluetooth, but does have usb.

Same. Got a ‘350 last summer. Gotta learn to play it, when I’m not working 2 jobs 😁 I like having the extra sounds for quick tinkering, and it makes a nice controller for my Juno DS or Reface DX (using phone or tablet as a USB MIDI connector).

Cdp-S and Px-s actually use different sound engines, so the piano tone is pretty different. Also PX-S has software detection in addition to dual sensors, while CDP-S only has dual sensor keys without any software detection for fast repetitions.

Having owned the cdps350 and now the pxs1000 I can tell you there is a difference in sound quality. The piano sample on the pxs1000 is very very good with lots of detail.

Agree! Fp-x is very interesting. Let that girl from roland tell us about improvements :)) No, seriously, fpx is very interesting. I have just bought fp-30 (idiot), but what are differences with fp30x. I am actually happy with my roland, but if the price is the same, this is my epic fail. Cuz i bought a stand and the pedal block. It is expensive stuff :)

Are any of these boards worth it?
@jcwpiano

It depends what the use case is...if you need a light action, light board to gig around with this fits the bill perfectly. If you want to use it as your only and main piano perhaps there are other options that might be better for you.

If u r looking for piano, this is definitely not a good choice. As a some kind of controller its ok, but as piano it sucks so hard. And i mean the action. Sound is ok, but if u r looking for a practice instrument, just look at fp-30 or yamaha p-125 or kawai. Not casio.

I wanted to like the pxs1000 because the design is so slick but after trying em out I definitely prefer the sound and feel of the Yamaha p125

I just want the piano so PX-S1000 is perfect for me and it sounds great. Also in my experience spending few hundreds fro 3000 is not so good idea. Coz the rest of all features and sounds are ..... [crap].

Bit late to the party here, but I don't agree with your assessment at all. I own the 3100 and the additional features and sounds completely expand your boundaries limited only by your imagination and skill. The quality of the extra sounds are mostly excellent at this price range, which is beyond what I personally expected considering the low price range. It is surprising that Casio actually produce these keyboards for affordable prices with so many features, decent speakers, key texture quality and general feel etc with touch screen lit panel etc. Anyways, what are you playing these days?

Casio is not worth buying.

Definitely not worth buying you should spend more money on other brands and get less features in the process. 😉
@sammikinsderp

I mean it depends on what you want. Other brands will give you a better sound and feel, but that won't give you talent. Casio gives you features like rhythms and accompaniment which can be really useful to practice along with. My first decent keyboard was a casio back in 1999 and it had great rhythms with accompaniment and it helped me so much in lieu of an actual band.
