Would you recommend this piano for a mainly classical music player?
@sweetwater
11 ай бұрын
Hey, Adrian! Thanks for your interest. It absolutely could be. If you’re wanting something a bit more portable and minimalist, this is a great option. There is a lot of flexibility in the modeled acoustic response as well as flexibility with the action so you can tune that to align with whatever you’re used to already. If you’re a classical player who is composing, this has useful tools like layering, splitting, recording, and a large library of sounds outside of just piano. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or want to have a more in-depth discussion about this and alternative options! This is probably a dumb question, but does anyone know if this model has any Celeste settings? Also how do the speakers and overall sound quality compare to say the PX780? I know the Clavinova’s have an incredible bass end/subwoofer, but I can’t stand the price or key weight/overall feeling of the keys

Hi, Alec! Thanks for your interest. Not a dumb question at all - I had to do a bit of digging through Casio’s documentation to find the answer. Yes, there is a celesta sound in the Vibraphone category and another one in the General MIDI section (as you can probably guess, the General MIDI one isn’t going to be particularly realistic). Having played both of them, I’d say the built-in speaker system on the PX-S7000 is much nicer than the PX-780. Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me directly with any further questions! Does this have drums accompaniment? Also does the mic input function as a pa for singing? Can you adjust the reverb on the mic and how big of a room will this sound carry if your say singing and playing billy joel etc. Are the speakers 40 watts? Thanks
@sweetwater
2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your interest! The PX-S7000 does have some basic drum beats in its metronome section, but these are mainly intended for practice - it doesn’t have complex accompaniment patterns like an arranger keyboard. You can certainly add reverb on the mic input, but for a live performance, I would recommend connecting both the mic and the piano to a more powerful PA system. The built-in speakers are 2 x 8W. Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me directly with any further questions! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com

@@PianoManChuck Hi there, thanks for jumping in. I double checked our internal notes at Sweetwater, and I have to admit I was off with my original response. I was looking at the power rating of the internal amps, which are listed at 2 x 8W - but after digging in further, it turns out both amps have two 8W channels. So you are correct that there are four speakers powered by two stereo amps at 8W a channel. As a further clarification, when using batteries, the power drops to 3W per channel. Thanks again and my apologies for not having the most accurate info up front! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com

Can you connect it to bluetooth headphones?
@sweetwater
2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Teuku! Thanks for your interest. The PX-S7000 has an included Bluetooth adapter that functions as a receiver, not a transmitter. In other words, you can use the built-in speakers on the piano as a Bluetooth speaker, but you can’t connect it to Bluetooth headphones. I wouldn’t recommend doing this even if it were possible with the included adapter, since Bluetooth always introduces latency in audio signals - there would be a noticeable lag between pressing a key and hearing the note in the Bluetooth headphones. Wired headphones are a much better option for practicing. Thanks again, and feel free to contact me directly with any further questions! Can you share more about the playability? I have been playing Yamahas for the past 15 years, how does the smart hybrid hammer action compare?
@sweetwater
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Augusto, great question! Keyboard playability is quite subjective so it is tough to give a comparison that would be relevant to your preferences and experience. These are also new so we haven’t had a chance to get our hands on them yet. However, you can reference our Keyboard Action Experiment here, where we weighed the action on a handful of different keyboard brands: www.sweetwater.com/insync/keyboard-action-and-key-weight-experiment/ It is likely that the PXS7000 action is similar to the older PXS3000 we used for that article. @@nickvledder Pretty rude response from you. Action is fundamentally subjective because everybody has a different opinions on how key action feels to them, whether light, heavy, texture and feel to the keys, response etc. People have their own preferences. I think overall, this keyboard is more focused on the incredible keybed smart action, especially for a slim design like this one. Can you use it as a MIDI controller through the bluetooth adapter and use the Piano speakers as the DAW’s main audio through the same bluetooth adapter?
@sweetwater
Жыл бұрын
Hello, Samuel! With the included Bluetooth adapter, you can indeed use Casio’s onboard speakers as your main set of speakers via a Bluetooth connection from your computer. With regards to MIDI, you’ll just need to be sure that your computer allows for MIDI over Bluetooth. It is common on most new machines, but still worth checking. Thanks for the interest! Good review, for studio use, is there a midi (midi in) clock that can sync this with DAW clock, ep tremolo speed sync for example to bpm, can the mod wheel be set to volume or expression control for strings and other instruments?
@sweetwater
Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your interest! I double checked Casio’s documentation to make sure, and the PX-S7000 does not transmit or receive MIDI clock information. So you wouldn’t be able to sync its internal LFO’s to an external source. There also isn’t a mod wheel on this instrument, just a pitch bend wheel. However, you can connect an expression pedal - that and the EX buttons will also send MIDI info over USB to control virtual instruments. Casio almost hit the mark with this keyboard, but they made one fatal mistake in my opinion. Currently, I have a Yamaha which has a similar number of voices for pianos, organs, brass, etc. It also offers 4 programmable keys to quickly jump to a preset voice. But 4 programmable keys are not enough. 10 maybe, 20 even better, for having a quick way to move to different voices would be acceptable. But this Casio only offers 4 program buttons also. However, what the yamaha has that is missing on this Casio, is a keyboard for entering a voice number directly without having to use the wheel. I keep a list of often used voices taped to the top of the yamaha and can punch in a 3 digit voice number in a second. Almost as fast as using a programmed button. But without a keypad, you would have to use the Casio wheel to spin and spin until you get to the rough range of your desired voice, then maintain an eye lock on the menu until you get the exact one. That would make this unusable as a stage piano for gigs where the keyboard fills in for sounds that are not covered by live players. Probably fine for home use only, but this is not a choice for a keyboard that has to do double duty at home and on stage.
