Just fixed a tv-400. Sure enough a leaky 220uf Elna cap on the power supply!

Does anybody know anything about Art Mito CRTs? I got one (model: Vision 28) a few weeks ago, and I can't find like ANY information about it. I would like to mod it to support S-video, and get the buttons on the TV itself working(the remote works perfectly).

It looks very, very similar to a small EPSON (ET-P300) model I own. It takes 6 AA batteries and lasts only for a few hours, but the picture is nothing short of excellent and sharp. I am able to read the news scrolling titles. I wonder why some fail and some do not. (Maybe they are two totally different tvs).

Building that TV must have been quite the task. So many intricate components on the circuit board. Cheers!

I have the Casio CV-1, was the worlds smallest color TV back in early 90's, still working great. My 7500 models out of 3 , 2 work fine and the 3rd has a bad fluro tube gets very hot.

I think the TV7500 was produced a few years after the TV500, and they definitely improved the LCD resolution. Something I did find annoying, was the permanent white strip tuning indicator. Most TVs turn that off of course, when it isn't been tuned. I used to have a couple of the UK Casios, which were PAL system and UHF tuning only.

Turned on my old iHome clock radio with iPod dock and the LCD display looks like a star field with different sized orbs of white dots in the display. Also I have a small portable battery powered clock travel radio that has an LCD display on a hinge so you can see right through the clear display. I would use a small single source lamp and shine the time on the wall at night, very cool.

I have this exact TV, but the backlight CCFL burned out on it somewhat. it still lit but the thermal fuses on the ends of the tube went open. after shorting those out, the backlight came on again, but got hot enough to discolor the LCD under it (temporary). These days I could probably just stuff LEDs in there to replace it. Do not be tempted to clean the LCD with alcohol, either. it will dissolve the RGB filters which are deposited on the front.

Same person sent me 2 to look at and see if I could get them to work. I show which parts go bad so others with this same unit know what parts need to be addressed. I am sure there are other parts that are also getting weak but you have to draw the line somewhere.

What brand is that dirty rotten cap. I've recently had 3 separate Yamaha units with the similar cap failure. When you see them immediately replace them. They are duds.

I think Casio used Elna caps in many of their products.
