@@PianoTone yes of course… I subscribed immediately. Every digital piano I’ve owned since 1987 ( Roland RD) has always needed a real MIDI 5 pin din . I wish more portable pianos still used it … Hats off to the Donner Se1 for including it . I just can’t gig with a piano or keyboard without MIDI . MIDI in it up to a synth or module or something for layers etc .

Yes, unless your doing solo piano concertos, no one will ever hear the difference. I find the choice of amplifier makes a world of difference in live gigs and such.😃

Very nice comparison. Was looking at the CDP-S350 and the deal breaker was no volume control for layered voices. I read the manual just last night for the CDP-S360 online and there was also nothing about any adjustments for layered voices. I like the new AiX sound, as my son has it here on his CT-X800. No way to adjust the volume on the layered voices there either. After much research on Casio offerings, I ordered the new CT-S500 Casiotone yesterday.

Oh that’s interesting - depending on how loud the relative volumes are set that can be a major issue (or not if they are set ok). The 500 does look super cool though (line outs finally!). Although I’m also now very curious about the new PSR series boards (473 and 425) with line outs, big speakers, mic in with gain and effects…. Looking forward to seeing those in my area as well. Thanks for checking out the channel feel free to subscribe; and let me know how you like your CT-S500!

your reviews are the most detailed and thourough i have seen anywhere.Keep up the good work.About these 2 chips i veseen elsewhere,the AIR is supposed to play the piano sounds better and the AIX chip everything else like guitars,strings,brass etc.I didnt know the chip was used in the CDP-s360 can you please tell me where you read this?i m actually looking for a stage piano and your videos have helped me a lot.Thanks.Also check out the PX pianos,the 360 and 560 which are supposed to be great and have the best user interface.

Hi there! Thanks so much for the kind words, glad you enjoy the reviews! I heard that the 360 uses the AiX chip from some forum posts I read that seemed to be reliable; basically that the 360 uses the same sound engine as the CTX 3000/5000 with increased polyphony and improved piano decay. I’ve long wanted to see a PX-S360/560 - they’ve been out for so long but people still rave about them - no stores in my area have ever stocked them so I haven’t seen one. From reviews I’ve watched the interface looks spectacular - curious if updated versions of these will be released or not. Thanks again for visiting the channel, feel free to subscribe

Hey thanks for subscribing! And the 3000 uses the AiR not the AiX. It has more detailed piano samples that take advantage of the higher polyphony.

the thing is, CT-S1 is the only one I see that has beautiful sound right from its built in speakers. The Casio LK-S450 has AiX sound as well, but it doesn't sound as good when I just hear its speaker output... for some reason, I thought Casio is branding their AiX as a newer, better sound engine (as least newer) than the AiR... oh well... right now the other piano that has beautiful sound is the one that can give out Yamaha CFX sound... such as DGX670... but since there is no showroom nearby... I can only hear the sound on KZitem which is usually the line-out output sound... the CFX sound VST from both VSL and Garritan are both very good.... excellent... so much better than my P125 sound with CFIIIS... only well... the VSL CFX is a little bit better than the Garritan CFX but that's my personal taste

Hi there! The CT-S1 does have decent sounding speakers for only 5 watts, but keep in mind - only 5 watts (and my video is not using speakers, it is direct line outs). Both the AiX and AiR chips have been around for awhile (although probably improved along the way). The AiX is used in non-"pianos" and the AiR is used in digital pianos, and supposedly has fuller better sounding piano voices. And yes the DGX670 has a wonderful piano sound; the CFX is a big improvement on the CF (found in Yamaha P-125). Thanks for checking out the channel, feel free to subscribe.
@winterheat

@Piano Tone oh do you know if the DGX670 sound good with the built in speakers or do they need headphones or Line out plus Amp and speakers to sound good? If it is the latter case, I may as well use my P125 and VST to do it... (I got the P125 by mistake not knowing the CFIIIS sound is not as good as the CFX sound and it is only $150 difference to get the CFX sound on DGX670)
@PianoTone
2 жыл бұрын
@@winterheat The speakers on the DGX670 are only 12 watts (14 on the 125) but they do sound nice; while they are less watts than the 125 they are a tiny bit larger. The DGX670 is also VERY heavy (50 lbs!) and big - hard to move around. And the DGX does NOT have L/R line outs, only a headphone port - although you can supposedly edit the output level of that port to be closer to a line level (headphone output is usually much stronger than a line out level). Hope that helps!

@wolfunplugged I'm still torn between these two due to price gap and built-in features. How is the Privia?
@PianoTone
4 ай бұрын
I don't actually own eiither anymore, but they are both great products. The Privia has the fully weighted and graded hammer action keys (that are true full size), LR line outs, but the user interface is non existent (having to use key combinations to choose voices and not being able to look at the keyboard and know what your current voice is); the CT-S1 has voices that are almost (or as) good as the Privia, weighs nothing and is tiny, and for a non weighted keyboard has a decent spring action, and costs FAR less. You might also want to check out my recent reviews on the Yamaha P-145, Yamaha Piaggero NP-35 and Korg Liano. Those are all also great entry level options. I have a CT-S1, not that happy with the sound :( Is it worth upgrading to PX-S1100?
@PianoTone
2 жыл бұрын
You will get a much better action (fully weighted keys but still on the light side), L/R line out ports and bigger speakers. The piano sounds are a bit better, mostly I think because of better dynamic range because of the keys, but I personally only notice it through headphones with no other backing track or music going on. The 1100 is 3 times the price; if you can try one out in a store first I would highly recommend that (and bring headphones!) Thanks for checking out the channel feel free to subscribe

can they record it by themselves?
@PianoTone
Жыл бұрын
Hi there! They each have simple recorders; the CT-S1 has a simple 1 track MIDI recorder, the PX-S1100 has a 2 track MIDI recorder. For serious recordings though, you should use a DAW like GarageBand and either connect directly to record MIDI or via an audio interface to record audio. @@PianoTone thank you so much for your reply! Any recommendations for Ct s1 vs CT S 200? I haven’t decide yet. I like red color, lightly keyboard. Btw can Ct s200 record ?
@PianoTone
Жыл бұрын
@@ms.yespiano The CT-S1 is MUCH better than the CT-S200; the CT-S1 has far better sound quality, and key action (and the CT-S1 is touch sensitive, the CT-S200 is not). The CT-S200 has rhythms and accompaniment that the CT-S1 does not have, but if you want that I would recommend the CT-S400 instead - it has the higher quality voices and key action like the CT-S1 does. I don't think the CT-S200 can record. Hope that helps!
