A great Friday run, kept me smiling all the way through. I think maybe Steve and Dave were discussing how to host an important visitor they are expecting in late summer.

Hahahahaha. And that would be ok! When I lived on Vancouver Island I knew someone with trains and no layout and told them to come use the outdoor line whenever, even if I wasn’t home.

Exelant video That shay sure is getting alot of use, she really doesn't struggle at all That's actually something you don't get with live steam, they dont struggle the same as full size Like on the full size, the driver would slip up a hill then start crawling up the hill, giving short bursts on the regulator, then the engine slips and you don't catch the slip in time, grinding too a halt, struggling all over again. Thats something you just don't get with those models

Yeah. You can’t scale down physics. But I have put so much strain on a loco it did slip.

Another great and fun video! Love the double-headed Shays. A shame Henry and Marge live *ahem* on the wrong side of the tracks. Glad that we viewers (friends - thank you!) can view the mesmerizing gear works of the Shays. The other side is about as dull as a Diesel. 😉

Lol. Well yes, Henry and Marge definitely found themselves on the wrong side of the tracks. The Shay has always been my fav type. I remember riding behind one at Fort Steel when I was about 11. A line of people were all taking pictures of the working side and I went around and was alone taking pics of the non engine side. Well years later my Uncle was looking at his own pics of that very Shay and wondered out loud what the simple frame side looked like. Ahah!

I didn’t decide where Henry and Marge would sit Tim. They did and had a 50/50 chance of getting it right. 😆 The train as is took up almost half the loop! I need to get the outdoor line done for a true test without the extra pressure of pulling around curves.

My mother says it is the engine operator’s responsibility to properly orient a shay so the viewer can see the action. Hence, it doesn’t matter which side of the track Marge and Henry sit. The engine crews are supposed to adjust.
