What an amazingly beautiful little steam boat! So well built and much charter in a small hull, fantastic. Super sounding at low RPM as well. Love the underwater shots, inc he cavitating prop 😜. Nice one Michael!

Thanks Steve. Michael’s boat is a beauty alright. That mamod engine really amazed me. Yes, the cavitating prop was a surprise for fresh water scaled down. I think the tips exit the eater and this pull down some bubbles. So a great effect!

My dad assembled a tugboat kit which had a live steam engine and one servo for the rudder. He hasn’t run it in decades, sits on a closet shelf. I believe I’ll ask if I can have it. I haven’t played with it since about 1980. But it would be fun to see it run again. Great video as always.

Very nice, I tried my own hand at steam boats many years ago when I owned two steam launches but I could never get comfortable with them on my local boating lake which was right on the seafront and it could go from calm to choppy quickly with the wind off the North Sea making my wooden boats bob like mad sometimes rough enough to put the fire out. Wish I’d had a fancy pools like this I might have got more use out of them.

Should we add another guy like Keith? So like...Capatin Conor? For ship videos?

Lol. Really it should be Porter Dan. Because he is voiced by cousin Dan, when I occasionally include voices. Dan was a master mariner and captained deep sea tugs. Big ships. Not small tugs.

@@Terrys-Steam-and-Cobi hahaha Well I'd imagine it not being too hard I'm no boat expert but i have some knowledge about them I reckon if you just get a hull of a boat you could easily make it steam I know wilesco sells engines for boats But that's their double acting piston valve engines, id imagine a wobbler engine would be more ideal as it's more compact Idk im a railor not a sailor See what i did there lol Btw i orderd my gear that i need it'll be here on the 25th Aparrtly And i might buy a wilesco roller sometime as a guy i know is selling one

Your camera must be waterproof, great video. I like your boat Terry and your firend's steam boat. I have the same Mamod type double oscillator marine engine he does. I was going to use it for a stationary engine however I have been thinking about buying a Saito boat kit and using that engine it. Seeing this video makes me want to do it more and realize how involved the detail can be with wood strips etc. I have a Micro Mark mini table saw that would be great for cutting scale floor boards on the ship. It's still a ton of work though. Thanks again Terry.

Thanks Steven. I once built a large ship (deep sea French navy tug) and kept a build log. 600 hours! I sold that boat. My tug in the video was a cheap toy tug. I added digital RC, repainted it, and added lots of details. However, soon you’ll see what I have now done. A radical rebuild! I so wished my boat was the same scale to Michael’s boat that I have got out saws, screw drivers and such and am almost finished an open bridge 1/24 scale boat. ☺️ I use an iphone 15 which is water resistant.

Oh my 600 hrs! Yikes it is a labor of love I know. That is what makes me nervous about model ship building is that it is easy to spend days and weeks on details. Thanks Terry.

@@stevenj9414 yeah the ship was amazing. But big and after a while not used. After a bunch of years as a shelf model I sold it to a fellow who liked it a lot and would use it much more. Anyway, it was the building process I enjoyed at that time over 20 years ago.
