I love the tribute to the Blues, man! I love fishing for them. I take a micro jig out on the north pier at Sebastian, and SLAY them! I had many days last year where it was just non-stop for upwards to five hours or so. I just about limped back to my truck one day with all of my gear, so sore from the Blues and Jacks that I could hardly even lift my right arm. Epic times, and an epic species. Cut every little piece of red out of their meat also, and they're absolutely delicious.

I love your commitment to the baitcaster reels. I have several and I love them, but I've not mastered them yet. I have plenty of spinning reels too. Great video. I feel your pain on the weather too...I live in the ocala national forest area and the weather had been mostly cold fronts and wind.....I've done better in the salt water than I have in the fresh water but the wind keeps me shallow.

You absolutely sold me on the dark matter psychedelic rods I ordered the gunmetal P7C-X and I'm gonna give the 13 fishing concept C2 a try. Love the high gearing for fast retrieval. I'm excited to try it out. They look a bit more heavy-duty than my Lews inshore set up.

I have caught gator blues from Long Island down to South New Jersey. Largest was 18lbs. I have never caught a Big Jack like you have in Florida on your videos. In your opinion, pound for pound, which one gives a better battle?
@AbenzFishing

Jack definitely fight harder but bluefish are more acrobatic- I’ve seen them jump like tarpon and air out for a Topwater

Would you use a 12-25 for snook or is that too light?
@AbenzFishing
8 ай бұрын
Depends where and what I’m throwing. I use 12-25’s a lot for snook when I throw 4-6” spooks, fingers, pilchards, etc. I wouldn’t combat fish with it though.

Unrelated to the Blues but I just watched one of your older vids where you mentioned you once caught a jack crevalle over 50 pounds! How much drag did that massive sob scream?

Dude - it was only one time I got one I truly believe was that big. It was 54” and the fifth time on an 8000 Stella was 20 min with 60# braid and 80# top knot

Bluefish are the biggest sh*tfish that can be had on Long Island. They are about the size of your leg. The sizes you're catching we call cocktail blues or just snappers. You can throw a beer can on a hook and they'll attack it. I don't know anyone up north that eats them - they are oily, very fishie tasting and bloody. They swim in schools and put up a heck of a fight. They get rather annoying when fishing for Striped Bass (which are also bigger than your leg).
