I learnt this in school when I was 5 and I am now 55 and it still comes to mind as I drive to Northern Ireland to see my daughter. I searched for this song as I hadn't heard it for almost 50 years. What a song. Exactly as I remember it. Beautiful.

Love this song Tony - your voice and the version haunts me in such a positive manner and reminds me of the old ambulance that ye had and the night coming from Omeath to Newry when we were all searched and intimidated by the UDR - ye went on stage very late at the Town Hall to a huge crowd and I joined ye on stage to assist Kathleen with "Kerry" which I had taught her that day. I was the buddy of Desi G from Kerry. Great memories of you all!

The October winds lament around The castle of Dromore Yet peace is in her lofty halls I loving treasure stóir Though autumn leaves may droop and die A bud of spring are you Sing hush-a-by loo, la loo, lo lan Sing hush-a-by loo, la loo Bring no ill will to hinder us My helpless babe and me Dread spirits of the Blackwater Clan Eoghan's wild banshee And Holy Mary pity us In Heaven for grace doth sue Sing hush-a-by loo, la loo, lo lan Sing hush-a-by loo, la loo Take time to thrive my ray of hope In the garden of Dromore Take heed young eaglet 'til thy wings Are feathered fit to soar A little rest and then our land Is full of work to do Sing hush-a-by loo, la loo, lo lan Sing hush-a-by loo, la loo Sing hush-a-by loo, la loo, lo lan Sing hush-a-by loo, la loo
