Also I thought it would of been awesome if Henry did attempt to shoot The kid in the end but nothing happened. But the bullet went through the schisma and it was actually Henry who shot Molly!

exactly... best comment I've read. I was thinking along the same lines. I was like, perhaps they realized that they had too much to "stuff in" 10 episodes and instead of editing they just barfed out a ending. Could of been 13 episodes easy. And nutz to the writers if they think the audience is too stoopid to figure it all out. The entire story was all over the place... I just started watching "Counterpart" and based on the story line you think it would be another confusing story but with smart writing/editing it's still strait forward and relatively easy (also trilling) to follow.

If you watch the show with subtitles when the kid's face turns the subtitle says "ethereal noise" Ethereal usually refers to heavenly not demonic. What if the kid is an angel of death instead of the devil or a demon. What if his being in the wrong timeline or dimension is how God brings about the end of each timeline / dimension?

No idea if this has anything to do with the series but the title of the episode is romans.... season one episode 10.... Romans s1:e 10 or... Romans 1:10 which reads... always in my prayers, asking that somehow by God’s will I may now at last succeed in coming to you. Seeing as in it's the kid trying to kid back to the schizma which is explained as the voice of god... maybe the boy is meant to be dead and he's trying to get back to god. His gravev reads born to heaven. Perhaps thats why death follows him... because he's meant to be dead. Again that's why it says ethereal noise in the closed captions... maybe he's not evil but he's just lost from heaven or fallen or something. Perhaps while he's on earth and meant to be in heaven death follows him until he returns to god somehow. He is supposed to be dead in this universe being alive is screwing everything up.

I gotta say I am in complete agreement with you. I was so freakin excited for this finale only to be fucked over. This season should have had at least 13 episodes total to cover all the bases. I love ambiguity in story telling but this was ambiguous to the degree of being obnoxious. So i read an article with the creators of the show and this is basically my interpretation of what they said about everything leading up to the last episode. Its about Henry who defends people who we think are monsters. And basically everything building up to the finale doesn’t matter because its about if Henry believes this kid is actually telling the truth about being from another timeline or if hes actually the devil. Idk, that what i got out of it😑 so the lore and all the other questions you mite have is not really important its the moral of the story i guess. Can somebody explain it better? I think it’s still gonna be disappointing ew.com/tv/2018/09/12/castle-rock-creators-season-1-finale-season-2/

Macaroni Sadly, I got the same impression from that interview. I did NOT like the answers. Or should I say the un-answers. Soooo, what Henry says at the very beginning and the very end are the only story? And the rest of it is just--- what? Filling? Did the writers have a big brawl about the ending, couldn't agree, so they threw it together and made the excuse that it's for the audience to interpret? For me, their answers created questions, just like their show did.

I've never reached a point where I essentially 'gave up' on figuring this out.. I have now concluded that this is not the ending I wanted or expected, and somehow The Kid's episode (number 9) was a fabrication to the extent that he was possibly an ancient creature that found Henry in a cage outside of his own reality then helped him back to his own reality ONLY to travel between worlds and create chaos.. Im going full Howling Man now.. fuck it.

The kid was obviously telling the truth otherwise episode 9 was a huge waste of time and Henry going missing and surviving 11days in the wild no longer makes sense. Maybe he was teleported to the next dimension but without a soul, leaving him open to a benevolent spirit to in habit him. He has his memories but not his soul so he can’t age his life can’t go on till he returns to the plain that contains his soul. Maybe but I am with you on the ambiguity. They should have wrapped it up better especially if we aren’t returning to these characters

I hated this episode. It just left me feeling totally unsatisfied. I guess with the final scene they hinted at White Henry really being the devil or something? What was the point of us seeing his timeline and learning that he's just a ma stuck on the wrong side if shit is going to end like this and then they sow the seed that he's an evil something-something? And if he's a monster, what the bleep was his motive for dragging Black Henry out into the forest to find 'the door'?Guh. This was just all stupid. I can't believe that Black Henry wouldn't believe him, seeing as he'd literally experienced the same thing. As I understand it, the story is just going to repeat itself. Black Henry will go crazy and eventually kill himself, just like Lacy, and Matthew in the other timeline. Then maybe his son will be the next? I don't know.. just.. ugh. I loved this show, and this episode totally ruined it. :(

I was hoping for some explanation after episode 7 then 10th episode happened and I felt like I wasted my time, watching first season should provide at least foundation of the story which didnt happen for me. Series Dark done what Castle Rock should had, I watched some episodes hoping for a mystery to be revealed and what I got completly blew me off. Sorry for grammar mistakes if I made some.

I was so excited and then so disappointed - the exact same way for seasons of AHS disappoints me when we come to the finale. All the buildup, and no, I mean NO! pay off for the invested audience. What I took from that ending is it is a loop, "The Kid" is stuck in and constantly has new caretakers, prolly several before warden lacey, Henry is just the latest one, basically handed to the Kid by Lacey, and I would assume poor Wendell will be stuck with the task of watching the Kid in the cage after his dad dies. I still don't know if being angry or scared in the woods showed his true face, or his true age? IDK? Did Ruth just have Alzheimers, not a time traveller? Felt like finale was a slap in the face to the viewers. Nice review.

Ok so I’ve had some time to ponder this & I think it’s like this: If the kid is actually the devil, then he has fooled us with episode 9 ..making us feel sympathetic towards him. He showed true colors briefly in the woods with the scary face & with the creepy smile at the end. Henry will probably have the same fate as Lacy & Matthew since that’s what happens to the jailer.

I completely agree with you. I just finished the episode and felt EXTREMELY frustrated. The overall plot made no sense. Every story line was under developed and then completely dropped in the finale. There was essentially zero character development, with the exception of Ruth, but then she dies off screen for an unexplained reason?! Seems to me, they were banking on people being excited about all the book references and spent most of their time trying to come up with ways to include as many as they could, but never actually spent any time writing a cohesive, interesting story. Complete waste of time, 10 hours of my life I will never get back.

I don't think the Kid has powers to make people do what he wants. More like things go crazy when he's around because he's traveled to the an parallel timeline. Great nod to 11.22.63 when Ruth says that the timeline will reset and Alan should live if she stays in the hospital for 3 days this time. Most likely, the Kid was going to try to use Henry's ability to hear the schisma to travel back to the Kid's timeline. Seems like the Kid can't hear the schisma.

Definitely a disappointing ending. I really hope the writers or JJ address in some way that are questions will be answered soon. Whether that be, letting us know that some of the questions will be answered in season 2 or do like a youtube short that ties some of these questions together, like how Lost did (although that second option only answered a few questions not all). This episode really reminded me of Lost for sure, especially with the whole Henry and The Kid, it was kinda of like Jacob and the Man in Black. Jacob wouldn't let the Man in the Black leave the Island, because he was evil (even though the Man in Black was way cooler than Jacob... just saying). For me the best part was when Henry pushed Matthew of that cliff! I was afraid they were going to make Matthew the good guy, but it ended up being worse because they didn't answer any of our questions. UGH!

Why did that headstone say "Deaver boy", what was he trying to convince Henry about with it? I am so frustrated right now lol Edit: after thinking about it for a second, this is the only explanation I could come up with...when Wendell asks Ruth why they didn't have kids of their own, she replies "we tried, but it didn't take," meaning she was pregnant at one time but she lost the baby at birth or it could've even been before (hence no name, just Deaver boy) and Henry was actually standing at his grave. It did say born to heaven. Maybe he thought that was enough to convince him that he wasn't meant to be there, that he was out of place and he just needed to be sent back to his reality for things to go back to normal. But maybe you guys caught that already, there's so much to be speculated and explained though so maybe not. I just thought it was something and wanted to share

I was super annoyed by the ending as well. This show aired not knowing if there is going to be a second season, and this is how they wanted to end it? I HATE mystery box shows, and I knew from the first episode that this would be a show where every episode had half answers but five more questions and probably would have an ambiguous ending. What I wasn’t expecting was how unfocused this show was! What was the point of Willy and Odin? In none of the flashbacks did Matthew Deaver talk to them at all. What was with the entirety of season 3 with Matthew Deaver haunting Molly? What didn’t stay dead? Where’s the resurrection and end of times?! I noticed that the blood spatters behind the Kid looked like wings, so he’s obviously an angel of death or something. But why does he have powers? What is he? Why is he? What’s the deal with the schism? If the kid is the devil, why’d he want to go to the woods? What was the point of the wax people? Why were there children in the third episode who seemed cultish? Why did the church and bible verses not go anywhere? Dejardens’ entire scene and shack with cereal was completely ignored. What was the point of the dogs?!!! This show felt like it had too many writers or people involved, and all of them were like, “We should include this!” And then they all forgot all of their ideas as they went. There was no focus at all.

For once, I don't feel like I'm alone in my confusion. Throughout the season, I made sure to not even pay too much attention to the side stories, because I had my eye on the BIG questions, but of course, the ONLY thing I understood about this particular episode was that the reason (the real/black) Henry didn't shoot the fake Henry was because he had just a smidge of doubt. At the beginning of the episode when their flashing back to his previous trial case to not execute his client, he asked the jury how much doubt would be reasonable enough to take a life, so that literally is THE ONLY thing I understood the reasoning behind.... EVERYTHING ELSE I have no fucking clue! But I DID enjoy watching it...lol

I was immensely disappointed in episode 10. It feels like we just came full circle with no explanation for so much. The kid is back in his cage...there are no repercussions for all the death and mayhem we see in this or previous episodes. It's maddening. However, I kind of wonder if this show had more to do with "11-22-63" than we are accounting for. The worm hole in time thing...and how the more you mess with it the more messed up ALL time lines become? I also think that the kid might not have been able to harm Henry because they are somehow the same person? Or connected like a mobius strip? Last: the tag at the end: was the kid who comes up behind Jackie Torrence in the bar? Is this an alternate time line? Or maybe the events we viewed are all just a work of fiction by Jackie? My favorite episodes are 7 and 9. I think 7 deserves an Emmy. The transitions and story arc were superb. I also almost kind of wish that 9 had been our series finale as it almost explained more and would have been an amazing cliff hanger given the proper conclusion.

You may want to wait like an hour, and think about what you’ve watched before just venting. I respect your passion, but art isn’t a puzzle meant to give you answers/gratification. It’s a story meant to give you meaning and something to activate your imagination. In order to get all the answers, the viewer would be a kind of artificial/omniscient figure in the story. Which is an awkward and artificial POV to shoehorn into a story. We end up knowing what HENRY knows. Which is JUST ENOUGH. From the very first episode this program has been set up as a meditation on justice/morality and reasonable doubt. The kid MAY be an artifact from another multiverse whose presence here creates chaos ala Donnie Darko, but MORE LIKELY he LIED about being Henry Deaver to secure allies and sympathy as any malicious malevolent cosmic entity jumping between dimensions would- ala Satan. The Kid is likely a entity similar to Pennywise. BUT WE CAN’T BE SURE. Lacy couldn’t, Henry couldn’t, WE can’t. This is a very King-esque ending and extremely brilliant. Asking for answers in this kind of petulant way seems to have more to do with seeing stories like video games. Art doesn’t always work that way. We don’t know who Snoke was either and it doesn’t matter. However unlike LastJedi, this is actually really good, provocative storytelling. ‘Answers’ are the end results of math not art.

I've been frustrated the whole season...they should of just uploaded all the damn episodes at once instead of having us sitting in anticipation week after week for this anticlimactic shit. I'd like to believe that they just failed to run parallel timelines cohesively. I've not read any of Stephen king's books so I thought I just missed something. All of your questions are my same questions. And what did the kid say to Lacy that would make him secretly lock him up. And why on the highway when Alan saw him in the trunk did he just leave him there. What was said to convince Alan he was evil. Terrible

So maybe Hulu is too greedy! Pretty much the Hulu series mo with a number of shows I have watched of theirs has left every season hanging as if there will be an episode next week. NOT COOL! On a couple of shows, Harlots and another that I can't even remember the name, I was done. Handmaid's Tale and Castle Rock are too good to give up on. I'm sure I will watch season 2 but probably not long if I don't get some explanation of what is really going on here. These shows need to stop leaving folks out to dry because I might just turn back to hiking and camping!

My theory: "Episode 9 was a half truth. The Kid is Henry from another dimension, however, notice how everything in the kid's story is too perfect. The Kid cures Alzheimer's. Everyone is much happier. He mentions that if his father would have killed his mother if she didn't leave him in his dimension, what if this is what actually happened? What if this made Henry go crazy? I believe he is Henry, but in his dimension he was evil, perhaps a serial killer. It may have even been Henry who had prime Henry in a cage all those years. He didn't gain supernatural powers until he crossed into our dimension and he became unstuck in time and space. In the finale it is hinted that the violence that follows him isn't collateral but intentional, maybe he couldn't control it at first but he can now. Somehow his psycho thoughts are projecting onto others and his crossing over into our dimension also allows him to distort reality or render his touch fatal (giving the inmate cancer). But how about the weird face at the end? The creator's have pointed out that it isn't a demonic face but a very old Henry The Kid, so it is possible it was simply a Schism time distortion. There is also another possibility, that not only Henry but everyone from his dimension is evil, it's some kind of hellscape and the Schism allows it's influence to leak into Castle Rock explaining every tragic and supernatural event in the town's history. Perhaps if Henry The Kid returned to his dimension he would have come back to Castle Rock with a legion. Just my two cents.

i was holding off on watching this series to maybe see if it was going to be a cliffhanger/head-fuck...well I'm now going to wait until series 2 and see if its a continuation, because i don't want to get all invested and be left hanging in the breeze, stuff like that really gets up my nose- ahem Twin Peaks- (yeah I'm looking at you David Lynch and Mark Frost)

Bills Henry mentions that his memories started coming back after he went to his house. Long term isolation can definitely screw with your head, so it makes some sense why he didn't talk at first. Overall though, I'm not sure what the real story is with Bill's Henry.

I have theories, but there are too many conflicting ideas, or missing pieces to the puzzle to really make a certain picture. I think the kid is Randall Flagg, or whatever name you want to put him by in this King story. The kid may not even know that he is Randall Flagg yet, but that is what I think. Conflict seems to always happen around him, and I think he does have powers, he just doesn't really know how to use them yet. I think at the end when it shows black Henry being a property/estate attorney, that it is because he is actually in an alternate dimension. Possibly the one we saw in episode 9. I say that only because like you said, he was obviously not being prosecuted for the murder, and all the bad things seem to have gone away. But then why is the prison shut down there? How did black Henry's son get back to the house? Its also possible I guess that because all those police died, maybe they just didn't have record of Henry being in jail or something silly like that. Side note, maybe Henry's mom didn't just die by accident, maybe the kid told Molly some information that he somehow knew Molly would pass along to Ruth which would break her circling chain of events and would cause her to die.

I think the ending of the show was supposed to leave us with questioning what's true and what's not. Just like Henry Dever was left questioning if his decision to lock "The Kid" up again was the "right" choice. I think "The Kid" needs Henry Dever (and now Wendell) because he is some kind of key (i.e. can hear the schism) to open the portal to another world/dimension. Also touching on the chess analogy, "The Kid" set all these parts in motion years ago. He could have planted the vision of Lacey seeing him wearing the same shirt as Henry. With that being said there were many things that were just thrown in the story as superficial fan service that was never touched again. I think the season needed at least 5 more episodes to flesh out the story and tie some loose ends. I think the 10 episode limit forced everything to be too superficial and ambiguous.

So I saw an interview with Bill at the New York Comic Con where he was asked if getting roped into a series was a good career move and he made it seem like there was only one season with 10 episodes. But at that time, I think, only 5 or 6 episodes of the show had been out. The show was a huge success before the finale, so maybe the producers/directors/whoever makes money on this shit, were like fuck it let's make multiple seasons cuz it's good and money and cool, so they changed it?? I don't know. But when you see the interviews at comic con from the actors it seems like it concluded, but was then so popular the network did what it did as a business and dragged it on. The actors could easily be ropped into contracts and have to keep with the show. Hulu signed a second season to start filming in 2019. WTF that means is beyond me, the sly smile Bill Skarsgards character gives at the end leads me to believe he is evil. He may not have been evil in the episode 'Henry Deaver', but if you kept me in a cage in an old water tower in a shit prison for 27 years in a fucking cage with some psycho reading me the Bible as my only contact to the outside world while being fed garbage food, I have absolutely no clue what the fuck I'd be.

I loved the ambiguous ending, and I think they left clues for both interpretations throughout - I think every part of this was meticulously planned by the writers. But also there is a way to figure it out, I believe - and I am fairly certain the kid is a devil who lied. His story about an alternate universe doesn't hold water for several reasons. But what that reveals about his powers to deceive and manipulate, and his intentions is really devilishly stunning. Every event from the beginning was carefully orchestrated by the kid/devil to unfold just as it did - the prison guard massacre, prisoners escaping, Alan's death, Warden's death, and the false story - all had a particular purpose (which I can't go all into here). The one exception being the final choice of the main character not to fall for it. His unpredictability was probably related to his special ability to hear (and it's not the voice of God).

I really enjoyed the ending; but my boyfriend was VERY disappointed. I liked like a lot of things were unanswered to let you decipher what you want. But, I understand people who looked at it more in-depth would be upset. The one thing they did well was Jane Levy’s character. I was worried they were dropping her in the story line for no reason, so I am happy we will be seeing her in season two most likely.

Henry Deaver. Church of Incarnate is the true church because we never die and we should be told that we can be earthbound in afterlife. Ruth says things never stay dead meaning ppl die and still remain alive. The characters died at some point but Molly died as an early settler. Looks like it’s purgatory and in purgatory they relive experiences etc. So Castle Rock is a place of purgatory is what I believe. I’m going to watch the last episode now. Stephen King offers the thought of altered realities but I think the boy was the father and Ruth killed their natural son and raised a foster child. Ruth’s husband either killed her or she committed suicide. I am still going to stick with they are in purgatory.

I was really hoping for more payoff. The kid’s “monster” reveal felt cheap and almost funny rather than what should have been really disturbing. His smile was more unsettling and I felt the whole time I wanted more. King gives satisfying payoffs in his stories I don’t know why we didn’t get one here.

My take is that it was supposed to just go in a circle. Kind of end where it began with no definitive answers, but rather. More questions. Much like life really is. 100 people can see/experience the same situation and each person comes away with their own point of view. Each individual point of view makes sense when it stands alone but when you put them all together, nothing matches up. This season reminded me a lot of Twin Peaks.

The only thing I think I got is that there is a connection with Henry's son getting off the bus in Jerusalem's Lot and maybe the Kid being a vampire from there because of how he changes at the end. I have no idea why that would even be included unless it's an easter egg for next season. Idk! Over all, I too am very frustrated. Hopefully, this will continue somewhere at some point in time.

First off I did think it was still a good series, even though yes I am also somewhat frustrated about the lack of answers. However I think part of the whole deal is drawing your own conclusions. I have a couple ideas about Some things. First I think The Willie and Wendell connection is Willie sees him and knows that he can hear the schisma and is out there looking for it. Why else would this random kid be walking through the woods. Also I think that the kid “ white Henry deaver” wants to get back because in this timeline he’s dead. Him being dead has to play into it somehow. Maybe black Henry isn’t a demon or evil because he wasn’t dead in the other timeline. He was alive somewhere else with a different name. The fact that the kid is like he embodiment of death has to be connected to the fact he is dead in this universe. Or maybe not. Lastly the next season has to move on from this. The only thing they could do is have black Henry keep white Henry in the cage and then him somehow break out, a bunch of people die and he tries to get Wendell to take him to the schisma. Right? Yeah they could answer some questions along the way but who wants to see another full season of the exact same thing. So maybe Jackie goes to overlook and meets dick halloran’s son and they go on an adventure. Looking forward to finding out. Great video btw.

I am now positive that the kid IS an embodiment of the Crimson King. He is either possessed by him, or he is actually the Red. I mean think about it. Not to mention that he is trapped, like when he was trapped in the Dark Tower. Or I am crazily overthinking this

Rewatching previous episodes I at least understood why Attorney Deaver put Dr. Deaver back in the cage. There’s a lot of things, some hidden in very subtly in some of the dialogue, that help tie elements of the story together. The reason he puts him back in cage is super obvious though.

It doesn’t make sense that Henry is evil because from the alternate universe he came from he was a normal guy living his life before he was dragged into the schisma , it was implied Ruth also understood the alternate universe when she said Molly said it different ,so many plot holes .... the people we saw in the schisma , the molly saw everything happening through the Kid and she acted like the kid was lying ... then Henry”s time in the chamber and him still acting like nothing happened ... who killed the black guy ? Why did Lacey kill himself and in the alternate world why did Matthew shoot himself ... really wished the Kid had gone back to his won world and present Henry would be like the kid 🤷♀️.... my take is present day Henry trapped the Kid cause he knew it was true everything the kid said and if he went to the other world he would cause havoc too ... so best was to trap the Kid in his world !

could what we be seeing is the birth of a kind of evil rather than something that has been evil all along? I almost wanted to dismiss the other timeline as being something made up by the kid as he demonstrated the ability to hear peoples’ thoughts. That's how he could know so much about the past of Henry and Molly, how he could fabricate this fictional story to Molly and use her emotions against her, as the version of castle rock presented to her has her life as she's always wanted it. In that scenario, the kid would be evil and probably not human. I don't know why they would even include him having that ability in the first place as its only use would be manipulation, whereas the stories inclusion of it with Molly has it being something that gives her further insight into henry and helps progress the story. With the kid, just why? why is the story giving him that ability? In this scenario the kid is not human and wants to just reap havoc on castle rock as some kind of sadistic puppet master. This all makes so much sense to me until I start wondering, where the hell was henry for those 11 days? And with this show including so much of looping events, it would make sense that both timelines have a similar events happening in both. What the hell is the schisma actually, if not the timelines rubbing up against each other; just more manipulation by the kid? Also, the henry deaver tomb stone at the end. It made me wonder if both time lines are real and what we are seeing is the birth of a new kind of evil being born, i.e. the kid learns to use his new powers and out of hatred and anger decides he is going to become the evil everyone keeps calling him, thus becoming this evil that just wants to reap havoc on castle rock. It’s well established that something is not normal with castle rock and never really has been through the ages. What if, at the end, the schisma does really correct itself for good, resulting in the merging of both castle rocks? The hint for this could be the tombstone with Henry Deaver’s name on it. It could also be the moment when white Henry Deaver metaphorically dies and becomes this new kind of evil being. Since he was in the wrong timeline, when they converge he stays as he is, an unaging powerful being? His smile at the end and his cold attitude at purposefully causing the death of the police station could be the signs that he is becoming evil. Whereas in early scenes, he warns people to stay away and/or looks like a lost, scared kid that is remorseful over the things that he is causing unintentionally. It also fits in nice with the prison guard in the beginning saying, “if he wasn’t crazy before he sure as hell is now”. That’s my theory on castle rock, though I still have questions. Why in the other time line is black henry the only one with powers while in the main time line Ruth and Molly have abilities? Clearly, you gain some morbid death powers when you are in a time line that you don’t belong in. So why in the main time line do Ruth and Molly have abilities and are the forces present there what gives white Henry the extra abilities aside from morbid death power? Perhaps White Henry’s time line is the main time line and the one we view as the main is the result of this unnatural splitting caused by the schisma. Maybe the balance gets shifted by white henry being in the wrong place when they merge. This alternate time line becomes the more prevalent one allowing the forces that give Molly and Ruth to have these abilities to remain, as well as the morbid death power for white Henry Deaver. This all makes my head hurt. Was this story well thought out and cohesive? Or was this just a flawed mess that they decided to just present as a “you decide” kind of gag? Id like to discuss it whether you agree or not. People might be able to add to this, correct it or maybe it will take someone down a new avenue, idk.

Episode 9 seem to answer most of the question. Episode 10 answer who killed his dad. It just was an unsatifying answer. Think The kid was telling the Truth. But Henry chose not to take him over because he freaked when the memories were flooding. They miss the window and Henry knew he had to keep the kid in the cage. What hurts that though is the monster thing and the smile. Maybe he got infected.

Disappointed that Ruth didn’t play a larger role in the finale - all that foreshadowing about her being the time walker who can kill the dead (I.e. her husband) turned out to be nothing. I also thought there might be a showdown between Molly and bandaged Matthew Deaver, which also kind of fizzled out

Well going by most of the evidence given. I've come to the conclusion that the kid was whatever possessed Matthew Deaver when his mother tried to kill him. I've thought from the beginning that the kid was evil. The clue was the monster face. It wasn't the Kid in the makeup it was Matthew Deavers actor

Great review. The season wasn't very satisfying.... especially what is the point watching 10 episodes when in the end "the kid" ends up back in his cell? Tons of carnage yet a year later everything is more or less back to normal. I don't mind stories that leave things open ended or subject to interpretation but I mean come on - All there is are loose ends. Hard for me to recommend this show to anyone. However I did enjoy the season for the most part.

I was super disappointed that the adopted Henry Deaver didn’t help Skarsgards Henry Deaver. I felt bad for him. He just wanted to get home to his wife and have a baby. But yes I agree also that there wasn’t really anything answered. Most of the episodes throughout the season were all over the place and they didn’t expand further side stories at all. Oh well. I will give this show a second chance with the new season. Most good series have shaky first seasons.

Also just saying just because you have a anthology series doesn't mean you can't connect seasons. AHS does it all the time, you may get answers next season you may get them in 5 seaons. Maybe this show just isn't your cup of tea and that's okay, but I thought it wad genious and personaly I think some of the best answers are unanswered questions. We live in a society that is so expectant, so "give me answers right now" maybe this show wants to explore options and let people derive their own theories and be creative.

The schisma could be the dark tower and the kid could be the crimson king. The only multiverse in the Steven king universe is the dark tower a tower filled with every single Stephen king story. I believe that Ruth's dementia allows her conscience to travel a select few of rooms in the tower but only the ones she can comprehend.

i think what ur missing is the WHOLE season is a metaphor of a murder trial and we as the audience are the jury. episode 9 was the boys story to us in order to cause reasonable doubt that he IS the devil. yeah i think episode 9 was all a lie made up by the boy. true not everything was answered but enough to be a good story. it ends where it begins with a good man convinced he's caged the devil but living with doubts. everything circles back to a "sorta" tidy ending and we as the viewer are left to decide Do we think the boy was a devil?
