I have the same machine but did get the angle blade, long arm and the upgraded display. To your point, the upgraded monitor does show your position relative to how your machine is sitting. Rubber tracks for me. I’m a new operator but it fits the needs for our equestrian farm and firewood operation. Thanks for the review.

Nice review! I’m 97.4% sure it’s a CAT rebranded Kubota engine. It says “MADE IN JAPAN” on the valve cover and I found “V2403” stamped on the block. My older 259D says “manufactured by Kubota” on the valve cover. Your videos helped me decide to get a 306, ordered it end of 21 and showed up in July of 22. Rubber pads, long stick, fancy display, angle blade, extra counter weight, thumb, hydro quick coupler, headed air ride seat, extra hydro lines, 18”,36”,48” grading buckets and a ripper tooth. $109k. So far so good. Kinda thinking I should have went with the steel/rubber tracks.

@deeper4cheaper128

@@smithworx1091 it’s actually a 47”, just checked ha. It’s irreplaceable for grading and if you’re moving a lighter/loose (smooth cutting edge) material it’s capacity is nice. Real nice for fine grading / ditch work. One thing I don’t like is it’s CAT brand and MADE IN CHINA, that irks me, the other cat bucked made in Mexico which sucks but it’s not china! I regret not doing more research, should have just called up AMI or werkbro for the buckets and thumb, when my thumb shows some west I’ll upgrade to progressive link for the same reasons you mentioned.

It is a Kubota engine, I have a 306 and also run Kubota tractors and other Kubota equipment and the Kubota rep when visiting saw the Cat 306 sitting in the shed and pointed out to me with great pride the mighty 306 actually has Kubota serial numbers printed on the 306 engine block, haha yep it’s a Kubota he said, of course I wasnt too unhappy about that, as Kubota engines are legendary. @@smithworx1091

The counter weight makes a difference. I operate a 306 with the long reach and angle blade at my job and it will lift 3000lb concrete blocks with no problem. I also have a flail mower head that is used to cut brush on the roadside, that will mulch a 3 inch diameter tree. They are a beast for a small machine. The only complaint I have, which isn't a serious one, is switching attachments with hydraulic hookup such as the mowing head, or a grading bucket, you have to shut down the machine and release the pressure. What do you think of the stick steer mode?
@smithworx1091
9 ай бұрын
Thanks for that info bro. If I ever get anther 306, it will have a counter weight. I wasn't a big fan of the stick steer mode. Not saying it's bad or wasn't cool. I just didn't find myself using it that much. But I might under different working conditions.
@zacharysitko3101

@@smithworx1091 I'm not really a big fan of the stick steer either. the salesman talked like it was the best thing since sliced bread, but the way I see it, its an excavator. I found it useful with the angle blade, but the downside is you have limited control over the boom and stick. you want to make sure they are going to be out of the way of trees or the ground if you push with that setup on the blade, but yeah its a feature i rarely use.

How do you find the operating feel? I have never struggled more in my life getting used to machines since getting in any of the new cat minis. Technology is all there. I find operating feel volatile and dangerous. The hydraulics feel all over the place. I understand you can “adjust”. It doesn’t do anything.

I'm looking at a 306 now...I've been considering one for a couple years and I think its time to grab it...I currently have a Kubota U55 which in my opinion is one of the finest mini's on the market today...its fast and smooth and lots of jam...especially track power!!...but it just doesn't have the lifting capacity I need...I'm quite leery of selling it because it just works so good but its going on 5 years old now and its my main machine! I had a 305Ccr years ago and it was a lovely machine but it didn't have the track power my Kubota has...how do you find the track power on your 306?

I'll have a video out at 4pm today of what the 306 can really do. The track power is great in my opinion. It carries this machine very well and it seems to still turn easily in loose soil. It doesn't bog down like my 305 did. I don't think you could be disappointed in a 306.

Share your misery about the Cat thumb! Also work in the woods in tight spaces and need to be able to grab debris close to the machine. Ordered a Let’s Dig 18 model of bucket and thumb from AMI in Canada for my Next Gen 304. Will receive it in Jan ‘23. It is NOT a progressive link design. Just a re-engineered bucket/thumb combo if I understand it. Let’s Dig 18 has a video - maybe 9 months ago - about installing his on his Yanmar mini x. He describes his process of deciding what he needed and also working with AMI on the engineering, etc. Hope this helps!

why didnt you get a blade for your 313?
@smithworx1091

Well a couple reasons. When I decided about the 313, Thompson Cat had 4 on order. So I put my name on one of those. They didn't have blades ordered with them. But I also didn't know they could put a blade on that machine until a while after the fact. But then it was taking forever for my machine to come in so I went ahead and got the model I have now since the machine was ready. And of course it didn't have a blade. But honestly after running it a while I'm not really missing the blade. At times I would like to have one but most of the time I don't need it.

Bought a 259D3 skid steer. Put 4 hours on it and found out it was too small. Traded in for a 299D3 with a $4000.00 loss. After 3 years and countless service calls on the DEF system they said I needed to get out of the 299 and into a 289 without DEF. I had 170 hours on the 299D3. They could not fix the machine. I thought CAT should get involved but.... They said for $32,000 they would sell me a 289, are you crazy? Week goes by and the said how about $28,000, I said what if this was yours. 170 hours on a 299D3 that was spotless. Another week and how about $8000.00. They said we will set it up just like the 299. I had smart control installed for the dozer blade and the protection package for hoses and lights. I said ok. It came with bar tracks instead of the H pattern. O these are better on grass, my hay field. Well thats a lie come to find out. You can follow me in the field by the tracks tearing up my hay field. We will look into replacing them, thats been 2 months ago. Windows leak like a sieve and has been worked on 4 times. Well it's there loss also. Being territorial they think I have to buy from them, well I own property in Mississippi so I went to Puckett where I bought my 6 way smart dozer blade and bought a 2024 306CR Friday. The Cat rental store in Mobile is a great bunch of folks but the A holes in Spanish Fort can suck it.
