correct, yet another reason. 40gbe over cat 8 is not going to happen, nor will it be reliable with very long distances. The correct answer is usually fiber for long distances and dacs for short distances if you are concerned with multigig speeds

I wish this was 40G over copper. This cable mostly irritates me, because 1: the cable run isn't grounded. 2: they tried to use the Cat 8 as a sign of quality.

@@deusqain haha, yes it's so true. It's almost always 1Gbe over the most expensive, highest number cat cable, and someone else decided they were "future proofing"

Absolutely, I have one. It's fantastic as an "on the go" patch cable.

Any thing over c6 is better off as fiber. It's rare that anyone is better served by c7+ then fiber.

Cat7 isn't ever worth having. Except in VERY specific circumstances.

@@deusqain yeah exactly. It's for a very specific person. It's not fast enough for enterprise but it's wayyyy to niche and persnickety for the average consumer. At the uni I did networking for we pretty much did 5e for everything. Never in my 4 years there did I use a single cable above cat 6. Fiber for everything else. Btw every student on campus had gig down and up.

Cat 7 isn't *ACTUALLY* A standard (TIA/EIA.) (That's why it's trash) But I guess you can TECHNICALLY 40GBASE-T on CAT 8. But is it worth the possible ground loop and antenna issues? Also terminating the cable sucks. And it bonus sucks if it's solid core. The QSFP+ form factor is specified for use with the 40 Gigabit Ethernet. Copper direct attached cable (DAC) or optical modules are supported, see Figure 85-20 in the 802.3 spec.
